Ken San Jose, one of today’s most visible young dance artists, rose to fame through viral TikTok choreography and regular appearances on ASAP. Now, he returns to his theater roots. While many know him for contemporary dance and social media, few realize he grew up performing in theater alongside his dance training. For Ken, the stage has always been home.

That connection resurfaced last year when he appeared in Joseph the Dreamer, sharing the stage with Sam Concepcion and Gary Valenciano. The experience reignited his love for musical theater. When he had the chance to audition for A Chorus Line, Ken fully committed. To meet the show’s rigorous demands, he trained intensively in jazz and ballet, honing both technique and stamina to match Broadway standards.

A Chorus Line

A Chorus Line is widely regarded as one of the most influential musicals in theater history. Premiering on Broadway in 1975, it revolutionized musical storytelling by focusing on dancers—their insecurities, sacrifices, and personal journeys—at the heart of the narrative. Minimalist but famously demanding, the show requires performers to sing, act, and dance at the highest level while maintaining emotional honesty throughout.

Ken San Jose will star as Mark Anthony, the youngest member of the ensemble—an optimistic newcomer whose impressive dance skills, quick wit, and boundless energy make him shine. Naive yet perceptive, he brings both heart and humor to the group, capturing the excitement and hope of someone just beginning a professional dance career.

The Manila production is especially notable, combining local and international theater talent under world-class creative leadership. Joining the cast is Filipino-American actor Conrad Ricamora, best known as Oliver Hampton on How to Get Away with Murder. A Tony-nominated stage actor, Ricamora has appeared in major Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, including Here Lies Love, The King and I, and Little Shop of Horrors, adding global theater experience to the ensemble.

Moreover, the show is directed by Emmy Award–winning choreographer Karla Puno Garcia, recognized for her work on the 76th Tony Awards.

Get to Know the Star

For Ken, taking on Mark Anthony is both a breakthrough and a homecoming. The role calls for technical skill, natural charm, and emotional openness—qualities that showcase his dance background and growing maturity as an artist.

This opportunity opens a new chapter, expanding his range beyond what mainstream audiences expect, while his roots in dance and the community that shaped him remain at the core of who he is.
