Singer-songwriter Camille Schmidt has released her debut album, Nude #9. The album is a mix of indie rock and folk-pop.
The queer Brooklyn- based indie rock meets folk-pop singer/songwriter Camille Schmidt reveals her album Nude #9. The ten-track album is a compilation of intimate portraits of herself, her family, and past and future lovers. It effortlessly blends melodies of synth-pop, folk, indie rock and punk. Schmidt’s debut album is a representation of an artist realizing their potential.
Despite growing her ensemble, Schmidt sounds more present. The truth in her lyrics is the center of it all. Broadening to include twinkling ambient sounds and post-punk rhythms while going deeper into romance, sexuality, friendship, and her sense of self. Nude #9 is sincere and deeply felt.

Making of the album
The songs that would be part of Nude #9 started last December. Schmidt collaborated with LA-based producer Ben Zaidi as she would write at least a song a week. After a few months, she had amassed over 45 new songs. Working on the songs inside the studio was a new process for Schmidt, who had recorded a song previously with a live band, “no headphones, and basically no overdubs,” she recalled. For her debut album, she brought in a group of equally talented musicians. People like bass from frequent collaborator Eli Heath, sound sculpting from Michael Haldeman (Mk.gee), additional guitar from Sam Acchione (Alex G) and Jacob Drab (Allegra Krieger), and additional percussion from Kane Ritchotte and W. Alexander.
She shares her thoughts on making the album:
“A lot of these songs were written completely stream of consciousness,”
She mentions writing the songs for the album without self-editing was freeing. It allowed her thoughts to take shape before she had a chance to doubt her intuition.
