Want to know about Marvel’s first family after watching the movie? We’ve got you covered!
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is now showing in theaters worldwide. Since this is the debut movie of the superhero team in the MCU, we decided to give you a little bit of a refresher about The Fantastic Four and other characters surrounding them.
Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic
Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, serves as the team’s leader and brains. He could be the most intelligent of the Fantastic Four characters and the Marvel universe. Besides the ability to stretch his whole body, his intellect is his greatest strength. He is an expert in nearly all scientific fields available, as well as certain extraterrestrial disciplines. His work in the fields of robotics, aviation, and quantum physics are just some of his specialties.
Additionally, he has countless patents for his creations and discoveries.
Sue Storm/Invisible Woman
The co-leader of the team and arguably the most powerful too. Her ability to be invisible at will—she can also make other objects invisible, from a pencil to even a large vehicle.
Besides being invisible, Sue can project near indestructible force fields around herself and to other targets, giving her an offensive and defensive edge in battle. She can also protect her mind from telepathic instances that may cause her harm.
Johnny Storm/Human Torch
Figuratively and literally, the hothead of the team. He can ignite his whole body, making him a literal “human torch.” Basically, Johnny has pyrokinesis. This ability grants him the power to create and control fire, as well as manipulate heat energy. He can make his body in flames, project fire blasts, and fly thanks to his powers.
Johnny’s greatest and most dangerous feat is his ability to go “Supernova,” a burst of heat so hot it can be destructive not just to his adversaries but also to himself.
Ben Grimm/The Thing
The soft giant is also the pilot of the team. He is best friends with Reed and considers the Fantastic Four his real family. With regard to his powers, he is one of the strongest individuals on Earth, even matching the Hulk. Speaking of the Jade Giant, they always have a friendly rivalry with each other. Their banter, most of the time, is about who is the stronger one.
Despite his intimidating appearance, Ben is one of the best allies and partners they can count on. Outside of the Fantastic Four, he is close friends with Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Captain America.
Shalla Bal/Silver Surfer
Possibly the most famous herald of the devourer of worlds, Galactus. The movie does something different with this character; the Silver Surfer character is originally Norrin Radd. Both Shalla and Norrin come from the planet Zenn La. To spare their planet from Galactus, Norrin offered to be his herald, to which Galactus agreed.
Lastly, Shalla and Norrin grew up together and eventually became lovers.
Galactus
One of the most notorious cosmic entities of the Marvel universe. Galactus’ origin spans billions of years ago. Before being a cosmic entity, he was once a humanoid named Galan and the sole survivor of a universe existing before the Big Bang. Cursed with eternal hunger, he consumes planets to stay alive.
A lonely journey, Galactus thought of having a herald that is tasked to look for other planets for him to consume. Besides the Silver Surfer, other heralds include Terrax, Morg, and Firelord.
