ENHYPEN takes a fearless leap in their 6th EP, DESIRE: UNLEASH, shedding their youthful eras for a darker, deeper, and more intense music—unfamiliar ground, but one they’re fully ready to own.
The seven members of ENHYPEN, Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki prove that they’ve outgrown the boundaries of the “cutesy” vampire trope. Instead, they’re embracing a bolder, more mature take on the concept. From their humble beginnings as I-LAND trainees to their current global stature, ENHYPEN continues to hone their artistry at a jaw-dropping pace.

The Emotional Arc of DESIRE : UNLEASH
Released on June 5, DESIRE: UNLEASH, with six tracks, has already made a global impact, topping iTunes charts and recording 1,890,677 first-day sales. The milestone places ENHYPEN among K-pop’s highest-selling acts, approaching the rare three-million debut-week threshold. Such success only shows how much ENGENEs love their discography and how highly anticipated this comeback album has been.
Only five years after their debut, ENHYPEN now confidently competes with the industry’s leading players. Adding to this proud moment, they secured their first Music Bank win, triumphing over SEVENTEEN’s Thunder. This isn’t just about celebrating achievements—it’s about believing in ENHYPEN’s limitless potential. And that belief, for fans and the group alike, is truly priceless.
1. Bad Desire (With or Without You)
With or without you
A heaven without you must be like hell
With or without you
A hell where I embrace you must be like heaven
This title track speaks of deep longing and wanting someone so badly, even if there are consequences. From the very first beat, it draws you in and makes you crave that feeling of love even more. The lyrics reflect the tension between wanting to hold on and knowing it might hurt.
Heeseung’s emotional pre-chorus lifts the song beautifully, while Jungwon adds depth with his calm, rich voice in the verses. Then comes Ni-ki’s deep, striking intro and outro, where he voices a desire that feels dark but honest.
The music video portrays both heaven and hell, drawing you into a reflection of your own desires, as if you, too, are caught in the struggle of wanting to transform someone. The use of black smoke and lightning adds a haunting touch, balancing the cinematography with a sense of apocalyptic beauty and emotional weight.
2. Loose
Originally released five months ahead as a prelude to the album, “Loose” signaled a shift into a more seductive sound. The song leans into sultry grooves and open vulnerability. It’s about releasing tension in a relationship, choosing honest communication over hesitation. It encourages listeners to embrace the present, let go, and perhaps even dedicate this song to someone special.
3. Too Close
Too close
Really dangerous distance
You so bad, I gotta move back
I’m so greedy, I’m so into you
Calling this release an “emotional claustrophobia” when someone is so close, it hurts. Maybe you will find the song so catchy because of the piano ringing at the song’s beat, but the lyrics play with the feeling of being drawn to someone you know might break you, yet you’re still pulled in. It speaks to how desire becomes overwhelming when the line between love and obsession fades.
There’s comfort and fear in being “too close,” which is an intimate contradiction. Maybe you’re trying to resist feelings, but they remain so close; it is a perfect song for you.
4. Outside
If DESIRE: UNLEASH had a core element beyond its main track, this song would represent it. “Outside” embodies the album’s essence and musical ambition. ENHYPEN themselves revealed that this track opened the door to a broader sonic palette and bolder themes.
Blending hip-hop with intense lyricism, it portrays the group’s evolution from soft-hearted boys to men who dare to cross lines in the name of passion and freedom. It’s the anthem of choosing who you really are, even if it’s messy.
5. Helium
One of the most heartfelt tracks, “Helium,” was co-composed by Jay. He compared love to helium that can lift you, make you feel weightless, and fill you up from the inside. Despite its fast-paced sound, it’s what sets this track aglow. It shows that love can lift you to the skies, but just as easily and fast, it can let you fall.
6. Flashover
This one starts off gentle until it doesn’t. “Flashover” erupts in its chorus, capturing the exact moment desire sparks into something uncontrollable. Jungwon describes it as a build-up that explodes like fire and that’s exactly what you get: a full-body EDM experience that captures the heat of unchecked emotion.
Emotionally, this song captures the exact moment when feelings intensify beyond control. It reflects the initial ignition of desire when attraction turns to obsession. There’s adrenaline, urgency, and danger. It sets the tone for the album, warning that the fire has already started burning.

A New Dawn for ENHYPEN’s Era
They are no longer the ENHYPEN we used to know. This isn’t the usual we expect from them and that’s exactly the point. With this latest mini album, they break away from the limits of their past image, no longer confined to innocence and predictability, but stepping into a more honest and complex identity. Their fangs are out, revealing raw emotions and a maturity that speaks not just to who they are, but who they are becoming.
Seeing how far they’ve come; it’s no surprise they performed back-to-back at Coachella 2025. Truly proud of the boys!
