The two “hot guys” of SEVENTEEN have just released an album! What do we expect from this dynamic duo?
S.COUPS and Mingyu (CxM) are coming out with a mini album titled HYPE VIBES. In this album, they choose to show off both their honest and natural selves to fans, stating that this is an album “filled with music that they want to do.” Judging from this iconic duo’s personalities and personal styles, it’s going to show even more of how these two superstars live to the beat of their rhythm!
In Mingyu’s episode of COOKSCOUPS, S.Coups says, “Mingyu and I made an album we have no regrets about. We really want to be loved!” This declaration seems to be the driving force behind the album, as we see that so much of it comes from their earnest desire to create an atmosphere that anyone can enjoy and connect with.

Track 1: Fiesta
“Fiesta” is the first track in the mini album. It’s a vibe similar to what Carats already recognize in SEVENTEEN, especially if you favor the songs released by the hip-hop unit. CxM seem to want to explore the different interpretations of youth and connection in this mini album, as “Fiesta” opens the tracklist with a fiery declaration to “party like a rock star.”

It’s explosive and intense with a sensual edge. The lyrics seem to come from a confident, almost brash persona, magnetizing the audience to listen. Honestly, if you ask me, “Fiesta” could very well be what the famous motto, YOLO, sounds like.
Track 2: 5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman) ft. Lay Bankz
“5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman)” is a more retro sound, considering that they use a sample of the original “Oh, Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison, though it’s definitely a fun, groovy beat. It’s impossible not to dance along once you hear it play. It also exhibits the more fiendish and reckless side of youth. Lay Bankz’ feature also provides something fresh to the track!
It certainly is hype vibes, to borrow from the mini album’s title. The lyrics uncover what seems to be a hot love affair, with the subject being the eponymous “pretty woman.” It’s a very effective confidence booster!
Track 3: Worth It
“Worth It” is a great song to dance to. Besides, what complements youth? Passion! And passion’s all this song’s got. However, despite the heated lyrics, the instrumental and melody themselves stay steady, which is an interesting choice considering the rest of the songs in the album.

Track 4: For You
“For You” is the song that CxM worked on first and one that they like because of how anchored the song is to reality. S.COUPS and Mingyu’s vision of the record being an album anyone could like also shows very much in this song’s lyrics, as we see the need and emphasis on human connection.

Track 5: Young Again
“Young Again” takes on a more wistful tone than the rest of the songs in the mini album, winding down from the hyped and energetic beginning to a more soulful end. This song not only embodies the concept photos but also presents a different vibe with its rock ballad approach.
This song focuses on the more transient nature of being young. It encourages the listeners to take advantage of time while they still have it.

Track 6: Earth
As the closing track, “Earth” is both hopeful and sentimental. It’s honestly a little surprising to listen to this, considering the vibes of the rest of the songs, but it’s a pleasant surprise and a great finisher! It contains more soul and has a powerful melody!

Moreover, this mini album’s a solid one and is a great choice for bops that make you want to get up and start moving. S.COUPS and Mingyu really succeeded in their goal of wanting to create songs that embody their own attitudes towards life and music, and they executed it in a very fun way!
