Four years after her solo debut single Bird, Apink Namjoo drops her second single album, BAD.
Apink member Kim Namjoo surprises everyone with her comeback album, BAD. She shows a distinct style that separates from her group’s usual concept. This is her second single album since her debut four years ago with Bird.
On March 18, in line with the comeback, they held a press event at the Ilchi Art Hall in Seoul. The album will be released later that same day.
During the press event, Namjoo shares with everyone that for her comeback, the concept is different than what her group usually does:
“Apink’s signature pure concept was well engraved into the group and myself. So going solo, I knew I had to come up with a unique color that contrasts well with Apink’s Namjoo.”
“I made sure to exclude the sides of Namjoo that I’d already shown beforehand.”

BAD album making and other details
For the making of her comeback, Namjoo is heavily involved in its concept, themes, and visuals.
“The title track, ‘BAD,’ is all about embracing your true self despite what others may think. Honestly, I felt a bit constrained by the innocent image I’ve been associated with as an Apink member. So, with this solo venture, I wanted to break free and establish my own unique identity.”
“I’ve truly grown over the past four years, encountering many different challenges and gaining insights from them.”
That’s why crafting this album meant so much to me. I poured my heart into it, aiming to reveal new dimensions of myself that were perhaps harder to convey in previous Apink albums.
However, she is not involved in writing the lyrics for the album’s tracks.
“There are a lot of professionals who are better than me at songwriting, so I thought it’d be better to ask for their help.”
“But going forward, I’m aware I have to write my own music. It’s just that I don’t dare to at this point.”

BAD album tracklist
The album consists of three songs, with the lead single of the same name.
- Mirror, Mirror (Narr. Daniel Henney): The album starts off with a bang with this song. This has a dance beat that tells you to show yourself with “no permission,” as it states in one of the song’s lyrics. This features an opening narration from actor Daniel Henney.
- BAD is the lead single of the album. It is similar to the first song, but this one has a hip-hop vibe with more intensity.
- Ridin’ Out is the most chill and relaxed of the tracks on this album. A good contrast to the two songs before it, a simple but effective R&B tune. Like the title itself, this is a great fit when the listener just wants to enjoy riding out in places.
