My Bias Is Showing!

In an exclusive interview with the main leads of the Korean Boys’ Love series My Bias Is Showing!, Kim Kang Min and OMEGA X’s Kevin shared their experiences from filming and behind the scenes.

My Bias Is Showing! is based on a popular Korean webtoon of the same name written by Nabit and illustrated by Eol. The adaptation cast Kim Kang Min as Choi Si-yeol and OMEGA X’s Kevin as Na Ae-joon, who took part in an exclusive interview about their series.

The exclusive interview with Kang Min and Kevin centers on their role preparation and journey with the series, their chemistry and dynamics as the main leads, and their personal growth and experiences on set. It also features their insights into their characters, the impact of the series on the fans, and their thoughts about the industry they’re currently in.

Kang Min, the portrayer of Si-yeol, said that since the webtoon is very popular, he really tried hard to portray the character as closely as possible. Yet still, the actor has given his own style, voice, and visuals to the character. Kevin, on the other hand, mentioned that since the series explores the relationship of an idol and a fan, it’s really timely and relevant.

Kevin and Kim Kang Min’s Preparations for My Bias Is Showing!

Stepping into the characters of Ae-joon and Si-yeol, Kevin and Kang Min shared their journey of taking up this role, respectively. The two of them didn’t ask advice or tips from each other. Even Kevin didn’t ask his fellow members (JAEHAN and YECHAN) for this acting debut. Both of them highlighted that they wanted to take this role on their own—exploring the characters and breathing them to life.

In addition, to indulge themselves in the characters, they took their own ways. Kevin said that he asked his fans on a specific platform about their experiences as a fan. Apart from this, to portray the role of being a teacher, he recalled the times when he was taught in school.

Meanwhile, Kang Min used his personal experiences as a fan. Even though he hasn’t stepped on stage like a real idol, he had attended some concerts. Through this, he was able to recall what it feels like, and it helped him step into his role.

Kang Min also added that taking this role is a great opportunity for him. Taking a role that he wasn’t able to do before is a good way to start something new.

Chemistry and Dynamics Between the Actors

The series marks the acting debut of Kevin as well as the first project between him and Kang Min. Thus, this kind of series needs immense chemistry between the actors. Kang Min shared that through script readings, he and Kevin were able to spend time together. This bridged them into becoming closer as the series progressed.

However, Kang Min also mentioned that their chemistry had a challenge at the start. Since their characters weren’t initially close, they had to keep some distance in real life so they could portray their roles well. But that was just the beginning, because eventually, the two of them grew closer.

Kang Min and Kevin’s Experiences and Personal Growth Within Their Work

While filming the series, Kevin and Kang Min really felt pressured, but at the same time, their excitement was also evident. Kevin emphasized that while working with Kang Min on this project, at first he felt pressure, but as they filmed more scenes, he eventually felt comfortable.

The two of them also shared that through their characters, they were able to pick up some qualities that they incorporated into their own personalities. Kang Min also added:

I think no matter the work or the character, there’s something new I always take away from each one.

Furthermore, when it comes to working with the director of the series, Kang Min appreciates how Director Baek Min Hee has been incredibly helpful. His feedback and direction in the series greatly contributed to the success of their team. Apart from this, Kevin and Kang Min highlighted a specific scene that they truly found difficult to deliver.

Kevin said it was when he had to film a scene where he fell while holding a piece of luggage, which he had to shoot multiple times. For Kang Min, it was when he needed to appear sincere with his apology as well as shed tears. Although pressured, he said he tried his best to film it perfectly.
