DC Studios’ Superman Releases this Week

Look Up, DC Fans! One of the most anticipated films this year is almost here. James Gunn’s Superman will inspire us to believe that a man can fly once again.

One of the most iconic superheroes will grace the big screens this week with SupermanThis is DC Studios’ first film outing under the direction of James Gunn, and there’s no better way to kick it off than with the big blue boy scout himself.

On July 9, the film will take viewers on an action/adventure ride in Metropolis as they witness Clark Kent saving the day as the titular character. The official plot synopsis as it goes:

Superman must reconcile his alien Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as reporter Clark Kent. As the embodiment of truth, justice, and the human way, he soon finds himself in a world that views these as old-fashioned.

Directed by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy), the film is the first entry of the new DC Universe (DCU) of interconnected movies. David Corenswet plays Clark Kent/Superman; joining him are Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hault as Lex Luthor, Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl.

Look up and Red Carpet fan event in Manila

Last June 19, Filipino fans got the chance to meet some of the cast and the director of the film. The Look Up fan event took place at Bridgetowne Open Grounds. This became a historic event as the fans formed the biggest human formation of Superman’s logo in the country.

Correspondingly, the red carpet event at the SM Mall of Asia music hall. The cast and crew continued to engage with the fans and conducted interviews with the media. In addition to that, the cast and crew got to experience a little bit of the Filipino culture, like the food and riding a jeep.

This was a day to remember for DC and superhero fans alike. In fact, they rarely got to experience an event like this. The last one was the Aquaman fan tour back in 2018. The fan events definitely hyped the fans more when the movie arrived.

DC Studios Superman flies to Philippine theaters on July 9 and internationally on July 11!
