From cute fan interactions to serious questions, GOT7’s BAMBAM happily spends his return to Manila through a press conference ahead of his first solo concert.

The gloomy weather is not a hindrance for Filipino Ahgases to catch a glimpse of the fanservice king, GOT7’s BAMBAM. Although it was raining in Manila when BAMBAM had his press conference and fan sign event for his 1st World Tour [AREA 52] in Manila, the Thai singer-songwriter was all smiles as he greeted his beloved fans.

Hosted by South Korean vlogger Jinho Bae, the press conference happened on September 21 at the Quantum Skyview, Gateway Mall. BAMBAM was welcomed with enthusiastic cheers as he stepped onstage donning an all-black outfit and shades, oozing with mysterious handsomeness.

BAMBAM explains the meaning behind the title of his world tour

Before settling on his seat to officially start the press conference, BAMBAM revealed that Area 52 was “inspired by America’s Area 51.” He liked the concept of aliens and going into space, while the number 52 was to represent his birthday, May 2.

BAMBAM picks his favorite track from all his albums

POP Journal asked what is his favorite song from all albums and why, to which BAMBAM answered “riBBon.” He said it was an important song for him as it was his first release as a solo artist. BAMBAM currently has three solo albums in his discography: Ribbon (2021), B (2022), and Sour & Sweet (2023).

BAMBAM expresses his excitement about seeing Filipino fans again

The last time the whole members of GOT7 went to the Philippines was for the Keep Spinning World Tour in October 2019, while BAMBAM came with JACKSON for the K-Pop Masterz in Manila in July last year.

“I came here with Jackson last year, and you guys really impressed me. I love your energy so much. That’s why I wanted to feel your passion before starting the world tour, so I chose Manila as the first place.”

For BAMBAM, this solo world tour means a lot to him. “Area52 is more than just a concert. It’s not just about me coming onstage to sing. It’s a time when we can really communicate with each other.”

Furthermore, BAMBAM learned a new Tagalog word aside from his favorite expression, “shot puno.” Jinho Bae taught him the term “beshie,” which means best friend. BAMBAM immediately used the word to greet his fans, saying, “Hi, mga beshie!”

BAMBAM also gave a hint about his special guest at his concert, Sandara Park. He asked fans to send their support for his ate Dara and shared that the 2NE1 member has been very welcoming and kind to him. Some fans then recommended a lot of places to visit in the Philippines and for him to try balut.

Meanwhile, BAMBAM participated in a fan sign event after the press conference. Lucky winners from the fan sign raffle were able to see BAMBAM up close for a short chitchat while the idol signed their posters. Fans also taught him some more Tagalog slangs like “eme” and “amaccana.”
