“How to Save a Life” (2005)

Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend

Somewhere along in the bitterness

And I would have stayed up with you all night

Had I known how to save a life

This concert playlist wouldn’t be complete without the song that started it all. “How to Save a Life” is a nostalgia trip that leaves you in tears after every listen. With its iconic piano intro and raw vocals, it’s a lethal combination that feels like a punch to the gut. But a welcome one, all the same.

“Over My Head (Cable Car)” (2005)

Everyone knows I’m in

Over my head, over my head

With eight seconds left in overtime

She’s on your mind, she’s on your mind

Keeping up with the feels, “Over My Head (Cable Car)” is another fan favorite from The Fray’s discography. This beloved track came to life after former lead vocalist Isaac Slade noticed the growing distance between him and his brother, Caleb.

It reflects the frustrations that arise from similar situations, leaving you wanting to yell out your feelings to make things right again. Featuring strong instrumentals and relatable lyrics, it’s a song made to be sung with all your might — whether by yourself or with a sea of fans.

“Look After You” (2007)

It’s always half and never whole

You’ve begun to feel like home, yeah

But what’s mine is yours to leave or take

What’s mine is yours to make your own

Whether you’re a longtime fan or casual listener, you’ve definitely found yourself singing along to the chorus of “Look After You” at least once in your life. It recently had a resurgence on social media alongside other singles from the band, showcasing the deep-rooted impact their music has had until now.

For the romantics at heart, this track is the perfect anthem to dedicate to your other halves. The mellow arrangement blending with heartfelt vocals is akin to an intimate confession, full of warmth and sealed with sincere assurance.

“You Found Me” (2008)

Lost and insecure

You found me, you found me

Lying on the floor

Where were you, where were you?

One of the things The Fray does best is resonate with their audience through music, especially when performing them live. High on the list of proof is “You Found Me,” a track that encompasses loss, desperation, and all forms of emotion.

It unfolds like a conversation where the other side never answers, wearing you down with silence until the ache reaches its peak. The song is painful at its core, but light still slips between its cracks — bright and found

“Heartbeat” (2011)

And you don’t look back, not for anything

‘Cause you love someone, you love ’em all the same

If you love someone, you love ’em all the same

Ending with their signature hopeful sound, “Heartbeat” is an upbeat track with a catchy chorus and warm vocals. Through the song, the band reflects on human resilience, whose hearts beat strong amidst the world’s noise. It’s another anthem that shines brightest when sung with a crowd, a perfect closer for a memorable concert.

Listen to these tracks before the concert and prepare yourself for an emotional night! Relive the memories with The Fray and December Avenue this Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
