“It Takes Two” begins with a carefree sliding guitar line before shifting into a more urgent sound. Meanwhile, its bright guitars and energetic instrumentation set the stage for a story about two people drawn to each other despite their complicated past.
According to Scout, the song takes a more abstract approach to songwriting. Rather than telling a straightforward story, he focuses on capturing a fleeting moment of desire.
