Hardcore punk legends DFL drop new single “Heavy Is the Head” ahead of their upcoming album Fuck It, out this spring via SBÄM Records.

Hardcore punk veterans DFL (Dead Fucking Last) return with their explosive new full-length album Fuck It, arriving this spring via SBÄM Records. To build momentum, they have already dropped select tracks, including “Heavy Is The Head.”

DFL Fuck It

Driven by raw, high-speed energy, Fuck It captures the reckless spirit that first defined DFL in the early ’90s. At the same time, it reflects the band’s growth and experience over the years.

Moreover, the album features a strong lineup of collaborators behind the scenes. Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise produced and mixed the record. He also contributed lead guitar on “WWFD” and the title track, along with guest vocals on several songs.

Meanwhile, the band recorded drums, guitar, bass, and backing vocals with Eddie Casillas of Voodoo Glow Skulls. In addition, Mario Caldato Jr., known for his work with the Beastie Boys, handled the lead vocal sessions and provided rough mixes—reuniting with DFL decades after producing their debut.

Altogether, the album delivers nine fast, no-frills tracks packed with humor and attitude. In the end, Fuck It proves that DFL’s chaotic mix of hardcore and skate-punk remains just as powerful as ever.

About Dead Fucking Last

DFL (Dead Fucking Last) formed in 1993 when guitarist Monty Messex teamed up with Adam Horovitz of the Beastie Boys and legendary skateboarder Tom Davis. They bonded over their shared love for early ’80s hardcore. Before DFL, Messex played in The Atoms, which once included Izzy Stradlin prior to Guns N’ Roses. Meanwhile, Horovitz came from the New York hardcore scene through The Young and the Useless before joining the Beastie Boys.

Soon after, the band released their debut album My Crazy Life (1993), produced by Mario Caldato Jr.. The record delivered a chaotic 20-minute burst of raw hardcore that mirrored their intense live shows. Then, they followed it up with Proud to Be (1995) under Epitaph Records, which later earned cult status for its fast and unapologetically lo-fi sound.

However, after the more experimental Grateful… (1997), the band went quiet. Years later, Messex and Davis reunited DFL in 2013. They eventually returned with YRUDFL in 2021 through SBÄM Records, proving their signature chaos remained intact. The current lineup includes Patrick Sullivan on bass and Snare Jordan on drums, alongside Messex and Davis.

More than three decades later, DFL still play as fast, loud, and unfiltered as ever. With Fuck It, they once again show that hardcore does not need polish to hit hard. Sometimes, turning up the volume and saying exactly what you mean is more than enough.

The band will release the vinyl of Fuck It on April 24 in Europe and May 29 in the United States, while fans can already secure their copies through pre-orders.
