Belle and Chain debut with haunting single “Don’t You Worry Babe,” blending alt-country, gothic rock, and emotional storytelling.
LA-based rock duo Belle and Chain release their debut single, “Don’t You Worry Babe,” via Notes From The Underground and Not Dead Yet Media. The single drops during their North American tour supporting British singer-songwriter Barns Courtney, with tickets still available for upcoming dates.
Belle and Chain craft a sound that blends alt-country and gothic rock, drawing on the dust and shadows of the American West. Their music feels wide open, weather-worn, and deeply melodic, balancing haunting textures with lyrical depth.

Originally a solo project for actor, filmmaker, and musician Spencer Grammer, the duo expanded with multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Davis IL. Built on shimmering soundscapes, breathy vocals, and evocative lyrics, “Don’t You Worry Babe” introduces listeners to the duo’s style.
The track centers on letting go of a relationship gently, focusing on tenderness rather than heartbreak. As Grammer explains, “It’s similar to a breakup song, but it takes a more gentle approach to letting someone go and letting them know that they’ll be alright on their own.”
From Trauma to Artistic Expression
Fronted by Spencer Grammer, Belle and Chain reflects her deeply artistic upbringing. Raised between New York City and Los Angeles, she grew up immersed in the performing arts—her father a celebrated TV actor and her mother a Broadway dancer. Grammer built a career as an actress, director, and voice performer, most notably as the voice of Summer Smith on the Adult Swim hit Rick and Morty.
Music became central to Grammer’s life following a violent attack in 2020, when a stabbing severed tendons and a nerve in her right forearm. During rehabilitation, she picked up the guitar, discovering songwriting as a way to process trauma and rebuild confidence.
By 2024, she began composing songs that would become the foundation of Belle and Chain. Collaborating with Davis IL, Grammer emphasizes the power of joint creativity, saying, “I believe two brains are better than one and collaboration is when the greatest work is created.”
Through “Don’t You Worry Babe,” Belle and Chain introduce a sound that is intimate, cinematic, and deeply rooted in emotional honesty, signaling a promising start to their musical journey.
