May is definitely a rewarding month for Brazilian power-pop standouts Banda AL9 as they drop two digital releases. They give their own take on the songs “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend,” originally by The Rubinoos in the late 1970s, and “She Calls Me Love (2026 Mix),” one of the band’s breakout tracks.
Banda AL9 is a duo consisting of two brothers: Matheur Khouri, who handles vocals and guitar, and Thiago Khouri, on vocals and bass. Acoustic covers have always been their thing since they began their musical journey in 2017. Two years later, they released their debut EP in 2019 called Amor É A Lei. The album skyrocketed their career, expanding their reach from Brazilian stardom to international recognition.

Meanwhile, “She Calls Me Love (2026 Mix)” comes with sharper production and a new punch. This surprises fans with another take on a track that helped the band soar further into the international spotlight. According to the duo:

These fresh releases serve as a teaser for Banda AL9’s upcoming full-length album, Hey! Hey! We’re Banda AL9. It is for release on July 17 under Wicked Cool Records and is now available for pre-order.
