AKMU is turning up the creativity dial, revealing their official fandom name with a bang.
Celebrating a decade of musical magic, the sibling duo didn’t just stop at cake and balloons. Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun dropped a bombshell of excitement on May 21 through YG Entertainment, teasing what seemed like the launch of a top-secret “product.”
The said project began with the announcement of AKMU’s official fandom name, AKKADEMY.

AKKADEMY is a combination of AKMU and ACADEMY, which means a community that is the center of art. AKMU has always broken the stereotypes and built its own musical genre. With the official fandom name revealed, this is a huge opportunity for the artist to communicate more closely with their devoted fans.
Specifically, the emblem in the shared poster reminds people of a vintage mood school, having mixed unique wit and imagination with its design. The two dinosaurs in the emblem also wittily connect to their treasure song, “Dinosaur,” which is part of the first single album, Summer Episode.
On the other hand, YG Entertainment remarked that they have prepared a series of projects to ‘repay the hearts of fans who love AKMU and accompanied them on their musical journey over the past ten years.’
Like other artists, there will be an official membership recruitment. According to the poster, admissions to the AKKADEMY have opened on March 21 and will end on April 4 through the Weverse Shop. The message “Stay tuned, more is coming.” also raised anticipation.
