Songs of the Rebellion details
The EP is revealed by Netflix’s social media pages. As of March 25, it is available to pre-save on most music streaming platforms.
As stated earlier, aespa collaborates with TOKiMONSTA for the song “Die Trying.” The song’s inspiration comes from the movie’s character, Nemesis (portrayed by Bae Doona), a master swordsman. TOKiMONSTA shares her thoughts on working on the song with the group:
“Being able to collaborate with K-pop act Aespa was incredible, especially as a Korean American.”
“Nemesis’ heroic strength, which arose from the depths of tragedy and darkness, fueled my creative process throughout the track.”
The other songs, like “Child of Fire” by Jessie Reyez, take inspiration from Kora (played by Sofia Boutella), the film’s lead character. “Ode to Ancestors” by Black Coffee takes inspiration from the character General Titus, played by Djimon Hounsou, who is a guest in the song.
Kordhell’s song “Revolution” is inspired by the character Jimmy, voiced by the great Anthony Hopkins. The House of the Bloodaxe is what inspired Tokischa and Tainy to create the song “Jalo!” together.
Listen to Songs of the Rebellion on April 5, and watch Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver on Netflix on April 19.
