It is a triumphant sonic journey that brings in a new chapter for the duo. A 20-minute cinematic short film was also published to go along with the EP. Fans may watch the short film on YouTube and stream the EP here.

Isotope sounds like the perfect title for a project that centers around the special creative chemistry between siblings, such as Will and Olivia’s second EP. Being two different sides of the same tree, Wasia Project has been putting their classical skills to use in wide-eyed jazz-pop for the past five years.

They’ve amassed hundreds of millions of streams. They have also recently supported Laufey in the US and are going on an arena tour in Europe with Tom Odell. As they continue to explore new ground, their genre-bending music is now accompanied by an incredible audio-visual idea. An evocative and beautifully cinematic 20-minute short film illustrates this.

About The Tracks

Isotope was released after the melancholy and existential ballad “Takes Me Back Home.” And the stunning baroque-pop lead single “Is This What Love Is?”

Throughout the EP, the duo processes sensations of love, worry, confusion, and love through a single voice. They also strike a balance between the comforting warmth of reminiscence and the unease of the unknown. “Why did I have to meet you / I was happy where I was,” Olivia regrets on “Somebody Come Through” over staccato bass and a frenetic Motorik rhythm.

Sonically, Olivia’s smooth vocals and soaring indie-pop continue where last year’s stand-alone single “Petals On The Moon” left off. “To Get Better” is another song where Will lends his soothing tones to a tale of self-doubt. That includes devastating confessions like, “How horrible it feels to be panicking / And, oh, how unsolvable it is to feel like I’m out of control.” The song culminates in a gorgeous slow-burn, with guitarist Michael Jablonka delivering a sonorous solo.

As experts in classical music, Isotope arranged strings to bring their cinematic vision to life during their demo in September. The instrumental EP-closer “Tell Me Lies” showcases the results. The song is a deeply romantic epic, embellished with symphonic strings, and it is set to Will’s piano theme, inspired by Rachmaninoff. “Isotope (interlude)” is similarly atmospheric, merging ticking beats, subaqueous synth sounds, and pitch-shifted vocals.

Founded in 2019, Wasia Project draws inspiration for their global pop music approach from their mixed British-Asian heritage and classical training. This has allowed them to dynamically blend styles and influences that transcend genre boundaries. They even encompass entire regions of musical heritage.

The duo’s extensive knowledge of various musical genres serves as the foundation for their songs, combining jazz, disco, and classical intelligence.
