Rock Trio Krooked Tongue Reflects on the Chaotic Beauty of Young Love in New Single, “Dog Days”

Western Pop

Krooked Tongue’s latest single, “Dog Days,” is a sentimental alt-rock tune for the ones who wish to reminisce about their younger years and first loves.

On August 8, UK rock trio Krooked Tongue dropped the next track off their upcoming debut album, scheduled for 2026. This release follows the band’s other must-listen singles — “Marigold,” “Let ‘Em Loose,” “Ember Mile,” “Nothing Ever Grows,” and “You Don’t Need A Sun Tan.”

Among their recent milestones, their 2024 single “Nothing Ever Grows” was played during a boxing match between Bivol vs. Beterbiev on DAZN Sports. In addition, “Let ‘Em Loose” was also used as the soundtrack for Progress Wrestling’s live show at London’s Electric Ballroom last year.

With the group’s steady growth, their August single “Dog Days” came at just the right time.

Behind the Track: “Dog Days”

On the doorstep of the edge of the world

True, for the weekends are gonna be strange

Our Dog Days are numbered

“Dog Days” is a creative blend of acoustic and electric sounds elevated by hard-hitting lyrics. With the help of longtime producer Josh Gallop, the trio’s creative strengths took center stage throughout the song.

When asked about the track, Krooked Tongue lead vocalist and lyricist Oli Rainsford described “Dog Days” as a “love song that lingers on the lattice of a ghostly, nostalgia-drenched wedding dress.” He adds, “There’s a chaotic beauty in teenage love. It’s everything and nothing all at once.”

If there were a tune representing the chaotic yet freeing feeling of young love, it would be this song.

Similar to how teenagers normally are, young love can be seen as impulsive and disorganized. It consumes you whole, making it seem like your entire world’s crumbling when they’re gone.

But on the other hand, it’s also the kind of love that shapes you — something that pushes you to be better and appreciate what you once had.
