mxmtoon was born in Oakland and is currently based in Nashville. She has been creating incredibly catchy pop songs since she was 17 years old. Which capture the kind of deep and tender emotions we frequently keep buried from the outside world.

With her talent, mxmtoon gained supporters and became well-known. She was also able to collaborate with musicians such as Carly Rae Jepsen and Noah Kahan. And it sent her on a long career path that included podcast hosting and graphic novel writing.

In addition, mxmtoon wrote and performed the theme song for the LEGO and Guerrilla Games Horizon series, titled “post-post apocalyptic dance party.”

This is among her most powerful works to date, as well as some of her most personal. She expresses a post-breakup escape fantasy, which is captured in the song “I hate Texas,” which she co-wrote with underscores. The lyrics differ from a gently poetic “I haven’t left my apartment in a real long time/I’m making friends with the stars at night” to an unapologetic “I hate Texas/But the exits have more room to run away from you.”

Maia said, “Working on “I Hate Texas” felt like when I first started making music, like I was completely in my element.” She also added, “I felt inspired to get a little sarcastic and write a song with some kick to it, just as pure fun.”
