The new single of Maren Davidsen, “Tennessee On My Mind,” marks the first release from her debut album This Is Where I Leave You. Moreover, Martin Vinje produced the track, and AWAL released it. The song captures a turning point shaped by distance, emotional fatigue, and personal growth.
She wrote the track during a solo trip to Nashville. At the time, she felt both inspired and unsettled. Furthermore, the contrast between a new environment and lingering emotions fueled the songwriting process. She recalls feeling drained yet creatively awakened. That trip, in turn, marked the beginning of letting go of a difficult chapter.

“Tennessee On My Mind” reflects emotional tension through vivid lyrics and layered instrumentation. Acoustic guitar drives the song, while harmonies and country-inspired strings add depth. In addition, the production creates a reflective and intimate atmosphere.
The track also connects to a broader narrative within the album. Maren explores love in many forms, from infatuation to heartbreak. Moreover, she confronts the challenge of recognizing when to move on. A full band recorded the album, preserving its organic feel.
Her influences include First Aid Kit, Kacey Musgraves, and Mumford & Sons. This Is Where I Leave You will arrive in October 2026.
Maren Davidsen builds her sound on honest storytelling and a blend of Nordic americana and country influences. She grew up in Stavanger, Norway, and picked up the guitar at six. Early on, she listened to Mark Knopfler, Bruce Springsteen, and Willie Nelson. These artists shaped her musical direction.
She later spent eight years in London. During that time, she immersed herself in the city’s fast-paced nightlife, especially in Mayfair. However, those experiences brought both excitement and personal challenges. As a result, she began taking songwriting more seriously. In 2023, she moved to Oslo to find clarity. There, she focused on writing her debut album.
