Laufey explains the story behind the song, “Silver Lining.”

According to Laufey, the song “Silver Lining” is themed with love, narrating the story of being able to set your true personality once you fall in love. In addition, she shared that it triggers your inner child to come out, and you are encouraged by lust. The song shows that even if love takes you to hell, it won’t matter as long as you’re with your partner.

Moreover, the song brought an enchanting music video that brings color to the song itself. The music video follows Laufey as she attends a fantastical masquerade ball surrounded by colorful characters.

It follows the Rite of Spring-inspired choreography right after the party turns into a surreal hellscape, putting Laufey into the abyss of her own making.

The music video was spearheaded by Jason Lester, who Laufey collaborated with in the past with videos like “From the Start and “Santa Baby.”
