In “Dopa(MINE),” Joony explores introspective themes, with the song written from the perspective of a partner questioning if you feel whole without them. This thought-provoking track prompts listeners to reflect on their dependencies and consider whether these relationships—whether with people or vices—are truly healthy.

Accompanying the release is a Super 8 film-style visualizer, where Joony connects with nature and seeks solitude in the woods. The raw, cinematic imagery deepens the song’s reflective themes, offering fans a more immersive experience.

Joony’s latest release builds on his collaborative EP “JRNY” with Jordan Ward, highlighting their chemistry and genre-blending sound. Standout collaborations with Brent Faiyaz and Blxst mark his rise in R&B, further elevating the DMV sound globally.

Joony returns with MEMENTO, his most refined work to date, following his local tribute project #SHITUMSS. Released under Red Bull Records, Blxst’s Evgle imprint, and his 211 collective, the 10-track EP showcases Joony’s bold creativity, exploring self-discovery, emotional vulnerability, and the pursuit of greatness through fluid and intentional verses.

The EP begins with “INTRO (Hotel)” and “NEED IT,” setting a cinematic tone. “INTRO (Hotel)” immerses listeners with audio of a stranger interacting with Joony and his crew, transitioning into “NEED IT,” which reflects Joony’s drive for success and fame.

More than simply building a career, Joony is shaping a movement. His sound amplifies the underground rap scene of the DMV while challenging the conventions of modern hip-hop. With MEMENTO, Joony isn’t chasing trends—he’s creating them. As this chapter unfolds, one thing is clear: for Joony, this is only the beginning.
