Moreover, James’ eagerly awaited new album is a strikingly confident statement that offers his audience an entirely new sound.
About James Vickery
James Vickery bares his soul in JAMES, a bold self-titled album that reimagines his style. Each song highlights his remarkable voice, which he almost lost because of a life-threatening ear ailment, from the euphoric pulse of “Higher” to the epic strings of “Hotel Lobby.” Vickery was left deaf in one ear after being diagnosed with cholesteatoma at the age of eight, but a vocal coach helped him find his ability.
“I think my whole career, I was really trying to be accepted by different communities while being afraid that they would reject me” he says. “I would make music to try and impress people without realising it.” Somewhere along the road, though, he found an inner peace—one that allowed him to fully embrace himself and his artistry.
He has collaborated with SG Lewis, EarthGang, and Musiq Soulchild. Also, his COLORS SHOW has had close to 40 million views. With producers JD Reid, Larrance Dopson, and Jonah Christian, JAMES combines pop, hip-hop, and funk, while his self-titled Sheet Music EP demonstrated his versatility.
