About the Album

Initially, Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party was released as a surprise collection of seventeen unsequenced singles. Fans took to social media, working up their own track listings and even creating hayleysingles.com, where thousands of fans were able to share their preferred order just as Williams had hoped. In the seven weeks since its digital release, the album’s eighteen tracks, including the hit “Parachute,” have been played over 110 million times. A number of live listening events are scheduled in record stores worldwide, and fans may still pre-order the physical album today.

Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party was produced entirely by Daniel James. With cross-project contributions from long-time collaborators Brian Robert Jones and Joey Howard, as well as Jim-E Stack on “True Believer,” which recently earned Williams her first solo Billboard Alternative Sales #1. Also, Williams wrote, performed, and recorded a variety of instruments for each of the eighteen songs.

This album showcases the full range of Hayley Williams’ music. “Mirtazapine” is an alt-rock tribute to antidepressants from the late 1990s. “Glum” is a meditation on loneliness in which she subverts her own voice through the use of vocal presets. Other noteworthy songs include “Ice in My OJ,” a completely modern tune that combines sharp production with some of Williams’ most scathing and hilarious lyrics to date.

“Whim,” an easy Americana earworm with a songwriting backbone that nods to her Nashville roots, is another noteworthy song. Long-time Paramore fans may quickly recognize the “Ice In My OJ” chorus, as it was first sung by Williams in 2004 on “Jumping Inside” by the Mammoth City Messengers.
