Charlie Lim is back with a song that sits right in the ache of love when it starts to fall apart.
The Singaporean singer-songwriter and producer Charlie Lim has announced his latest single “The Hardest Thing” featuring UK artist Tamzene. The track arrives on 25 June 2026 as the lead single from his forthcoming album DAYDREAM.
Written during Charlie’s time in London in 2024 “The Hardest Thing” began as a writing session between two friends. What came out of it was something deeply honest. A song about love, about loss. About the stories people tell themselves when they are trying to understand why something beautiful no longer feels easy.
Sitting with Heartbreak
Rather than pointing fingers or turning heartbreak into drama, “The Hardest Thing” stays in the quiet space after the storm. It captures the feeling of two people who still understand what they had. Two people who still see its beauty, yet somehow they can feel it slipping away.
Charlie and Tamzene bring that feeling to life with a chemistry that feels soft but devastating. Their voices move through the song like a conversation that has already happened many times before.

For Tamzene, the song became more than just a collaboration. It was also a way to make sense of heartbreak with a friend.
It’s always a joy to work with talented friends and writing this song with Charlie was therapy for us both. The risk we take in giving love is big and the fallout can be brutal. So this song is for the heartbroken in hopes they softly find their way again.

The emotional weight of the track is lifted by a cinematic arrangement co-produced by acclaimed Singaporean ambient artist Kin Leonn. His textured approach gives the song room to breathe. Adding even more depth is Ng Pei-Sian who is the Principal Cellist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. His cello performance moves through the track with a sense of longing that feels intimate and restrained.
A First Look Into DAYDREAM
As the first glimpse into DAYDREAM “The Hardest Thing” points toward what may be Charlie Lim’s most introspective work so far. The album explores memory longing regret and the quiet tension between the life we once imagined and the one we eventually learn to live with.
For more than fifteen years, Charlie has been one of Singapore’s most respected independent artists. He has earned multiple No. 1 albums on the Singapore iTunes charts and has performed on major stages across Asia. His music has also reached millions of streams while his songwriting has become known for its emotional honesty and careful sense of craft.
With DAYDREAM Charlie enters a more stripped-back and vulnerable chapter. “The Hardest Thing” feels like the perfect doorway into that world. It does not offer easy answers. It does not try to make heartbreak neat. Instead it stays with the question: When love becomes the hardest thing to hold on to how do we know when to keep fighting and when to let go?
