Iglesia ni Carly, get ready to throw your hands up like it’s 2015! Carly Rae Jepsen is celebrating ten years of E•MO•TION with all the good stuff, plus four new tracks and two remixes.
Carly Rae Jepsen brings back the dreams and heartache of 2015 with the 10th Anniversary Edition of modern pop classic E•MO•TION. Though it wasn’t the smash hit that people expected from the “Call Me Maybe” sensation upon its release, it is now widely regarded as one of the best pop albums of the 2010s, elevating CRJ beyond a one hit wonder to a certified star.

Track list mathematics
Seventeen tracks from the deluxe expanded edition of E•MO•TION, plus the single “Cut To The Feeling,” plus four new tracks, plus two remixes of “Run Away With Me” equals a whopping 24 tracks on this release. E•MO•TION Side B fans will be disappointed at the absence of songs from the sequel, but with Jepsen’s track record of releasing companion albums, there’s hope that those songs might appear in another form in the future.
Of the four new songs, “More” and “Guardian Angel” were released prior to the album drop, while “Back of My Heart” and “Lost in Devotion” are graduating from demos for the first time. Jepsen has said that she had originally written 200 songs for E•MO•TION, so it’s no surprise that these tracks fit into the album seamlessly with their retro grooves and–there’s no other way to say it–emotional vocals.
On the other hand, the “Run Away With Me” remixes seem to reimagine the song in different settings, with Kyle Shearer giving it the stripped-down, electronic spin of a rooftop party, and Rostam (formerly of Vampire Weekend) going for the literal bells and horns of a quirky outdoor performance from the mid-2010s.

Every stage a celebration
On August 19, Jepsen held a one night only performance at the Troubadour, a small club in West Hollywood with a 500-person capacity, where she first sang the songs that would eventually change the landscape of pop music. Fans clamoured for tickets to the sold out show, where the Canadian singer performed the entirety of E•MO•TION (and some extras) from start to end.
As for this side of the Pacific, Jepsen has been to the Philippines twice—once in October 2019 for the Dedicated tour, then four years later, in March 2023, when she headlined the Wanderland Music and Arts Festival. Shortly after, she released The Loveliest Time, a companion to her 2022 album The Loneliest Time.
No one does joy and yearning like CRJ. Ten years and several albums later, she’s proved that she has more mettle and substance than your average pop girlie. E•MO•TION has grown into more than the sum of its parts, and this rerelease feels like a party that’s been a long time coming.
