South Korean indie band SURL debuts on the Thai music industry with a Thai rendition of their song, “Dry Flower.”
According to MPMG, the SURL label, “We achieved natural language conversion with high-level technology.
Starting with the Thai version, we hope to approach various cultures and languages. We hope SURL’s musical innovation and technological challenges positively influence other Korean bands aiming for globalization.”
With over 5.6 million plays on Spotify. SURL’s song “Dry Flower” now has a Thai version. Also, this version was made feasible by artificial intelligence (AI), which has been used to mimic lead singer Seol Ho-Seung’s voice in Thai.
This comes after SURL performed alongside Thai musicians. Including The Toys, Dept, Loserpop, Television Off, Death of Heather, and Daniel Ryn at the June MPMG Music Festival, Vision Bangkok. Along with other MPMG artists. Additionally, they made two appearances in Taiwan this year: a headline event in Taipei in June and the Megaport Festival in Kaohsiung in March.
Furthermore, SURL had a busy year in 2023 as well. Launching off their North American tour in 13 cities. In the United States and Canada in April to take them to the global stage. A six-city Asian tour and a “Korea Spotlight” showcase in Mexico came next, with more performances in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
