Folk music fans, get ready! Sam Robbins has released a new bop!

Boston-based folk singer-songwriter Sam Robbins is kicking off his new album, So Much I Still Don’t See, with the beautifully introspective track, “Piles of Sand.” Stripped down yet powerful, the song paints a vivid picture of reflection and change—just Robbins, his guitar, and the quiet weight of his words.

As the album’s opening track, “Piles of Sand” sets the tone for what’s to come. Inspired by a moment of solitude in Nashville, Robbins found himself walking along a riverside path. He observed the contrast between nature and construction—gravel being blasted for high-rise condos, a pile of sand towering high like a mountain. That image sparked the song’s central line:

I thought it was a mountain, but it was just a pile of sand towering so high, a nine-to-five creation.

Much like the rest of So Much I Still Don’t See, “Piles of Sand” is built on simplicity and storytelling. Robbins channels the raw, heartfelt essence of classic folk legends like James Taylor, Jim Croce, and Harry Chapin. It captured the beauty in everyday moments. Recorded in an old church in Springfield, MA, the album leans into the intimacy of live performance. It feels warm, unpolished, and deeply personal.

For Sam Robbins, this album is the culmination of years on the road. Since graduating from Berklee College of Music and making the leap to Nashville, he’s spent the past four years touring 45,000 miles per year, playing over 200 shows annually, and meeting people from all walks of life. These experiences—plus a life-changing dive into stoic philosophy—deeply influenced the themes of So Much I Still Don’t See. The album isn’t just about looking outward but also turning inward, finding meaning in the quiet in-between moments.

Robbins’ journey has earned him recognition as a 2021 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk contest winner and a mainstage performer at top folk festivals across the country. His music, rooted in honest storytelling, continues to resonate with audiences far and wide.
