HEY JUNE! reimagines Smokey Mountain’s “Ai Shite Ruyo,” honoring OPM legacy while introducing the classic song to a new generation with their unique sound.
HEY JUNE! gives a beloved Filipino classic a new sound with their rendition of “Ai Shite Ruyo,” a song originally performed by the legendary pop group Smokey Mountain. The release marks a historic moment for both the band and the local music industry as it becomes the first special collaboration between EMI Records Philippines and Island Records Philippines. Through their fresh interpretation, HEY JUNE! honors the song’s lasting impact while introducing it to a new generation of listeners.

The single follows the band’s successful cover of Tears for Fears’ “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” making “Ai Shite Ruyo” their second officially released cover. HEY JUNE! stays true to the emotion of the original track while adding their own musical identity. Their version blends nostalgia with a modern approach, proving the band’s ability to revisit timeless songs while preserving what makes them memorable.
The release also highlights a new chapter for bassist Coey, who joins Jim and Aci as one of the featured vocalists on the track. This marks Coey’s first official singing role in a HEY JUNE! recording. His contribution adds a new dimension to the band’s sound and showcases the group’s growing creativity and musical connection.
Bridging Generations Through OPM

Decades after its debut, the track continues to connect with audiences through its meaningful themes and unforgettable melody. With their rendition, HEY JUNE! bridges the past and present while celebrating the lasting influence of OPM.
The single artwork also pays tribute to Smokey Mountain’s Death Penalty album cover.
