“gupit” by The Juans & Alamat
The song “gupit” is a collaboration between band The Juans and P-pop group Alamat. For Juanistas and Magiliw, the names of their fandoms, this song has a vibrant and upbeat mood despite its theme of heartbreak. The song is inspired by the Filipino belief that someone would intentionally cut their hair short after experiencing severe heartbreak, a practice known as the “Break-Up Cut.”

“Apat Na Buwan” by Janine Teñoso
The song “Apat Na Buwan” explores the agonizing truth of holding on to a love that’s slipping away. It captures the pain of unreciprocated feelings, portraying the struggle of one person who remains deeply invested while the other drifts further apart. It’s a reflection on the difficulty of letting go. “Apat Na Buwan” was released on August 24.

“Multo” by Cup of Joe
Released on September 24, “Multo” beautifully captures the struggle of recovering from a past trauma. “Hunting you every night,” it illustrates the difficulty of releasing the grip of painful memories, conveying the sense of being haunted by the past and the overwhelming challenge of finding true freedom.

“Arrowmance” by Rob Deniel
Next on our 2024 P-Pop Playlist is a song from Rob Deniel. “Arrowmance” delivers a powerful depiction of young love that resonates deeply with listeners. This latest single from Rob follows his collaboration with Janine Teñoso on “Distansya” and his hit track “Miss Miss,” which dropped in December of last year.
“Cherry On Top” by BINI
Another delightful bubblegum pop addition to BINI’s discography, “Cherry On Top” was released on July 11, accompanied by a vibrant music video. Its debut at KCON 2024 in Los Angeles, where it was the first act by a Filipina PPOP group, marks a significant international breakthrough for the group. The song’s cheerful and upbeat nature, along with its themes of love, happiness, and a carefree spirit, are bound to captivate listeners.
“SSP (Saksak Sa Puso)” by VXON
Released on January 26, SSP is a song from VXON’s debut EP, 20:20. “SSP (Saksak Sa Puso)” was written by VXON’s member Franz. The song has a strong message, and with the wordplay of a chant from a children’s game, “Langit, Lupa.” VXON is a five-member Ppop group under Cornerstone Entertainment.
“Dilaw” by Maki
Following the success of “Saan” and the release of his Tanong EP, Maki dropped “Dilaw” on May 24. The song made its live debut at Maki’s Dilaw Fest in McKinley Taguig City. It explores the theme of unconditional love and finding your “Dilaw,” a special person who brings sunshine into your life.
“Kalakal” by SB19 and Gloc-9
Released on August 9, “Kalakal” is a joint track of SB19 and legendary rapper GLOC9. The song has a modern pop and hip-hop fusion. It talks about the consumerism of the Filipino people and highlights the artist’s lengthy and empowered journey.
“One Sided Love” by G22
G22, the sister group of VXON and AJAA under Cornerstone Entertainment, released their single “One-Sided Love” on April 19. The song, with its emotionally charged lyrics, expresses the pain of unrequited love, a theme that many can relate to. This release showcases the group’s softer and sweeter side, a departure from their previous strong songs “Bang” and “Boomerang.”
“BES I LUV U” by AJAA
On July 26, AJAA, a four-member P-pop group under Cornerstone Entertainment, released a digital single that beautifully captures the tender feelings of falling in love with your best friend and the hesitation that comes with wanting to confess. “BES I LUV U” radiates youthful energy and evokes nostalgic memories of high school romance, making it a heartwarming anthem for anyone who’s experienced the bittersweet thrill of young love.
