ONE OR EIGHT DSTM

ONE OR EIGHT ignites the music scene with “DSTM,” featuring the first-ever official sample of Rihanna’s iconic hit!

Japanese boy group ONE OR EIGHT has released “DSTM,” a fresh take on Rihanna’s 2007 hit “Don’t Stop The Music.” Produced by Stargate, the original producer of Rihanna’s track, this reinterpretation blends modern elements with a dance-pop vibe, infused with ONE OR EIGHT‘s energetic style.

“DSTM” combines catchy rap, melodic hooks, and smooth hip-hop beats, capturing ONE OR EIGHT’s vibrant energy. The song delivers an uplifting message: “As long as the music keeps playing, we won’t stop,” encouraging listeners to embrace challenges and chase their dreams.

Stargate, the producer of “DSTM,” praised ONE OR EIGHT for bringing their unique style to Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop The Music.” He emphasized how the collaboration—featuring Japanese, Bajan, Cameroonian, and Norwegian influences—showcases music’s ability to unite people.

The single’s release includes a futuristic music video, directed by VMA-nominated Glenn Michael and edited by Mykyta Bereg. Set in a tech-driven city where music and art are suppressed, the video follows ONE OR EIGHT as they fight to restore music’s power through parallel worlds. Vibrant visuals and dynamic performances amplify the track’s powerful message.

When I first heard the demo of ‘DSTM,’ I was thrilled to learn it sampled Rihanna’s ‘Don’t Stop The Music,’ but I also felt immense pressure. Now, it’s our turn to carry that legacy forward and deliver a fresh, ONE OR EIGHT-style ‘DSTM’ to the world. I hope everyone who listens to this song feels inspired, just like we do, to keep pursuing their challenges, dreams, and hopes as long as ‘DSTM’ keeps playing.

ONE OR EIGHT: Global Breakthrough

ONE OR EIGHT is a Japanese boy group with eight members: MIZUKI, NEO, REIA, RYOTA, SOUMA, TAKERU, TSUBASA, and YUGA. Their name comes from the Japanese idiom “ichi ka hachi ka” (一か八か), meaning “All or Nothing.” This bold mindset drives their fearless approach to life and music. With their empowering tagline “BET ON YOURSELF,” they inspire fans to chase their dreams without hesitation.

They debuted on August 16, 2024, with their hit single “Don’t Tell Nobody.” Produced by Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) and David Stewart (BTS), the track soared to #1 on the Billboard Japan Heatseekers Songs chart, marking a strong industry debut.

Soon after, their momentum grew with “KAWASAKI” remixes featuring Felip (SB19’s Ken), thủy, Big Sean, and pH-1. These collaborations showcased their genre-blending style and earned them a spot on Nikkei Entertainment!’s “100 New Stars of 2025.” In December 2024, their remix with Big Sean pushed “KAWASAKI” to #5 on the U.S. iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart, strengthening their global presence.

Their rising influence didn’t stop there. ONE OR EIGHT won the “Upcoming Dance & Vocal Group” award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan (VMAJ). They capped off the event with a powerful performance of their latest track, “DSTM,” leaving a lasting impression.
