TWICE and LAUV are on a journey and we’re all here to witness it unfold!

Going strong into their eighth year, it only seems like it was yesterday when Twice came out with their first hit, “Like Ooh-Aah.” Now, the nine-member group has effortlessly matured in the process. Their longevity has allowed them to focus less on cuteness.

Instead, their recent releases rely on elegance and grace, much like their elder groups, SNSD and Apink, before them. While their earlier releases, such as “Cheer Up” and “Likey,” have brought them immense success, their thematic pivot began with 2019’s “Fancy.” It’s still something that they stick to today. And it’s a remarkable shift that makes the group feel more “grown-up” than before.

The collaboration with Lauv is called the “Voyage Version” of “I Got You.” This isn’t the first time Twice has dabbled in crossover releases. “I Can’t Stop Me” last year set the precedent when it was given a remix featuring pop-punk band Boys Like Girls. Meanwhile, Lauv himself (of “I Like Me Better”) is also no stranger to star-studded collabs. In the past, he’s released songs with the likes of Troye Sivan and Bella Poarch.

Blackpink and Selena Gomez. Red Velvet and Ellie Goulding. Even the Girls’ Generation and Snoop Dogg. Now we can add Twice and Lauv alongside those on the list of epic collabs between K-Pop’s most popular girl groups and the Western world’s beloved chart-toppers. It’ll be exciting to see what pairings will capture our imaginations in the future!
