SBTown Aims to Connect Kpop and Ppop Fans Through Another Music Fiesta

Language is never a barrier when it comes to music, and SBTown continues to prove it through yet another music festival.

Recently making waves with the successful KWAVE Music Festival, SBTown brings the SBTown Music Fiesta. Featuring famous and rising K-idols, Korean actors and actresses, and of course, P-pop acts, this annual event will be the perfect place to share the love of music within the K-pop and P-pop communities.

SBTown Music Fiesta, Manila Koreatown Association (MAKOTA), and Worldwide Link will present and provide scholarships to the students from PEFTOK (Philippine Expeditionary Force To Korea) Veterans Association to commemorate the 75 years of friendship between South Korea and the Philippines.



In light of the music fiesta reveal, a media conference was held on May 24, 2024 at the Sheraton Manila Bay. Set to happen on May 26, 2024 at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium, the SBTown Music Fiesta will be flooded with fun and excitement with a jam-packed lineup of incredible artists.

 

DIGNITY hopes to introduce the group to Filipino music fans

DIGNITY is a five-member boy group consisting of Luo, Luke, Minseok, ON, and Hyeongjin. They debuted in South Korea in September 2022 with the pre-debut single, “Rambo.”

During the media conference, member Luke revealed that he visited the Philippines with his family for a vacation in 2019. The members also shared their knowledge of P-pop acts, such as SB19. They also noticed how the Filipinos are so friendly and accommodating. “They greeted us in the airport.”



When asked how they can promote the group to non-listeners, they proudly responded that DIGNITY has endless skills and charms. “You guys will notice us for our upcoming music.”

Queenz Eye captivates with the members’ flawless visual

Revealing that it was their first time in the Philippines, the five-member girl group wanted to try Filipino delicacies, especially Jollibee’s spaghetti and pie. Wonchae, Hannah, Narin, Ahyoon, and Damin also gave a sample of BINI’s “Salamin, Salamin” when asked about their similarities with the Filipino girl group. “We think the powerful dances and great songs are similar to our group’s music style.” Queenz Eye also established their hopes to collaborate with BINI.

On the other hand, the members described Filipino music fans as having boundless excitement. Hannah shared that she had friends who had visited the Philippines and already had plans for how to enjoy their stay in the country. Damin hopes to meet their Filipino fans and try to eat lots of food, with some members of the media recommending Adobo and Halo-Halo.



Additionally, Wonchae said there’s not much difference between K-pop and P-pop aside from the language. “Both have great songs and powerful performances.”

X:IN teases impactful stages for the SBTown Music Fiesta

E.Sha, Nizz, Nova, Hannah, and Aria of X:IN entered the media conference with overflowing charisma. When asked to introduce the group, the members proudly expressed their uniqueness as a five-member multinational female group. Specifically, Aria is from India, while Nova is from Russia.

As a foreign member of the group, Aria shared that the language was the hardest part when she became a trainee. Nova also commented on how the Korean members helped them adjust, revealing that she gets along very well with everyone.



Particularly, Nizz thought there would be huge differences because there were foreign members in the group. But it turns out there were none. “We actually did not experience any difficulties, just the language barrier.”

X:IN did not perform during the media conference, saving the anticipation for the event itself.

 

Jang Hyeri presents a special stage

The former Girl’s Day member and bassist of bebop came in as gorgeous as ever. Jang Hyeri revealed that she has visited the Philippines several times for scuba diving. “I really like the Philippines because there are a lot of places to do scuba diving, like in Palawan and Cebu.”

In her fifth year as a trot singer, Jang Hyeri shared how she will introduce the trot genre to the Filipino audience. “It’s my 14th year as an artist, so trot for me is a bit difficult, and I wondered what the genre was at first. It’s a genre that will seem familiar to everyone because all is just music, like ballads and rock.”



Jang Hyeri also boasted her applaudable talent as she performed Freddie Aguilar’s “Anak” while playing the bass.

Yu Soohyun is the next trot superstar

Yu Soohyun is a member of the girl group MINIMANI and was among the finalists for Miss Trot Season 3. Revealing that it was her first time in the Philippines, Yu Soohyun hopes to visit the country more often, observing how Filipinos are very passionate about music and performance.

Danny Lee hopes to expand his artistry

Danny Lee and Tatang Robin’s tiki-taka was perhaps the highlight of the media conference. It’s actually Danny Lee’s third visit to the Philippines. First being a fashion show in Manila, while the second time was for a schedule with Universal Records.

The model and actor also teased his upcoming project, a Korean movie soon to hit theaters. When asked what drama genre he looks forward to working in as an actor, Danny Lee confidently responded that he could do all genres. “I want to work globally, and the Philippines is my first challenge. I plan to fly to the US in the future.”

SBTown Music Fiesta Details

Aside from the Korean artists, P-pop acts YGIG, PLUUS, BILIB, Zéla, and Darlene will also join the lineup. There will also be a special appearance from Korean actor, model, and the nation’s second lead, Kim Ji Soo.

Hosted by Danny Lee, the SBTown Music Fiesta will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at 5:00 PM at the Rizal Park Open Air Auditorium in Manila. Presented by SBTown and the Manila Koreatown Association, admission to the event is FREE. This event is made possible through the sponsors Universal Records, Binggrae, Jinro, BB.Q Chicken, and Eagle 25.
