HAPPINESS, Reveluv! Red Velvet Irene shows why she is the original visual with her 1st mini-album, Like A Flower.
Red Velvet member Irene goes solo this time with her debut mini-album, Like A Flower. Of course, we all know Irene has one of the best visuals in the industry. With this project, we get to witness more of Irene as a musical artist.
Like A Flower track list review
1. Like A Flower
The lead single and the title track of the album, the song screams confidence. Irene uses the flower metaphor effectively; it compares the blooming of a flower to a person, showing what they truly are. She delivers the message of self-love and confidence with this track very well. The listener will get a boost of motivation and appreciate themselves more. The song is very easy to listen to; Irene sprinkles in some influence from her Red Velvet tunes, but make no mistake, this is still Irene’s song. The lyric “Imma grow like that, glow like that, I’m gon’ be alright” perfectly sums up what the song is about.
As for the music video, the visuals are on point. The whole video gives the viewer a warm, wholesome, and positive vibe that you cannot help but smile and feel pumped up after watching. Irene definitely shines on this one.

2. Summer Rain
The song brings a certain amount of irony to this one. We always associate summer with a warm and positive outlook, but this song is not, hence the “rain” part. The music brings a gloomy vibe to the listener. They will feel the message of heartache and hopelessness with this one. Irene expresses this vulnerable side so well that her vocals are a match for this type of song. Irene should do more blues next time. “Summer Rain” is a potential favorite for this album.
3. Calling Me Back
One of the R&B love tracks of the album is another one that makes the listener want to press the repeat button. Irene’s vocals are on point as she delivers the message of the song about acknowledging your feelings for someone. The more you hide, the harder it gets to resist it; she sings with such emotion that we could not help but relate to it. A simple song with a simple message, but it is executed greatly and with passion.
4. Strawberry Silhouette
The second of the R&B love tracks shares some similarities with “Calling Me Back.” But this track has a faster beat and tempo than the previous one. Another thing that stands out about this is the rap verse. Irene showcases her rap skills greatly through this song. We can say that the rap part came out unexpectedly. It is a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. Irene never fails to show us her different skills.

5. Start Line
The feel-good song out of the whole mini-album. This just screams wholesome positivity and motivation. The message and beat of the song are pretty straightforward, with a joyful vibe that makes the listener want to dance. Lastly, the message tells everyone just to take a leap and do it. You will have no regrets.
6. Winter Wish
Still not feeling the winter and holiday season yet? This song will help you. “Winter Wish” is a fine addition to any Christmas/winter playlist. It reminds you that this is the time just to smile. It makes you reminisce about the hardships and obstacles you faced throughout the year, but those won’t be enough to celebrate a festive season such as this. The song is an advance gift from Irene to all of us, not just Revelevus, but to everybody.
7. Ka-Ching – Special Track
A pretty chill track. The listener can add this to their relaxation playlist. We imagine this song is a great fit for a random weekend rest. Where you are just inside your home feeling like there is nothing else to do, play this song, and it will help you relax more.
8. I Feel Pretty – Special Track
Yes, Irene. You definitely look and feel pretty. We noticed that the running theme of this mini album is self-confidence, and this song is another proof of why. Irene really shines when she sings R&B songs, whether they are about love or just a song that makes you want to unwind. Her soft and “chilly” vocals are so therapeutic to listen to.

Final Thoughts
To conclude, this first solo venture by Irene is a great thing for all Reveluvs, including us here at Pop Journal. We get to see her front and center, not just in the visuals but in other aspects as well. Because of this, we want her to do more things like this. Irene singing R&B songs is what we look forward to the most after giving the album a go.
