Season two of Arthdal Chronicles is coming with a new lead actor, Lee Joon Gi!
Lee Joon Gi is set to take on the challenging task of portraying two characters in the upcoming tvN weekend Kdrama, Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun. Penned by Kim Young-Hyun and directed by Park Sang-Yeon and Kim Kwang-SIk, the second season of Arthdal Chronicles is slated to premiere on September 9, at 9:20 PM KST.
Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun picks up eight years after the first season. The plot revolves around Saya, played by Lee Joon Gi, who has risen to the rank of military general. His brother Eunseom, also played by Lee Joon Gi, has unified the 30 Ago clans and now leads the Ago Union along with Tagon (Jang Dong-Gun).
Despite the two’s identical appearances, Saya and Eunsom lead vastly different lives. And their inevitable encounter is set to occur in The Sword of Aramun.

The first stills of Saya and Eunseom showcased the stark contrast between the two characters. Saya’s battle-hardened visage reflects the years he has spent on the battlefield. While Eunseom is depicted as a rugged warrior, ready to strike his enemies at any moment.
The anticipation is building for the moment when these two siblings, each carrying their own burdens and anxieties, finally meet.
Lee Joon Gi, who is tasked with bringing both Saya and Eunseom to life, expressed his excitement and curiosity about portraying two characters with such contrasting lives and emotions. He explained that the challenge of embodying Saya and Eunseom was a significant factor in his decision to join The Sword of Aramun.
Particularly, Lee Joon Gi emphasized in his preparation for the dual roles the importance of understanding and imagining the lives of both characters over the eight-year gap. He is eager to showcase his versatility as an actor through these new roles.
