Ajin and Plengpin in Enigma Black Stage Episode 1
The series opens by candidly introducing the main cast—Jew, Anya, Myday, and finally Plengpin—as they prepare to audition for a role in the remake of The Bloom and a Thousand Bees.
Plengpin spots a shadowy figure and follows it, discovering it’s Ajin. The two are secretly working together, and Ajin warns her to keep their connection hidden.
After their brief exchange, the production team calls Plengpin in. As she performs the exact dance moves of the film’s female lead, M.L. Ray’s face flashes on screen. It was a video of him announcing his search for a new lead actress. Ray, the grandson of the original dress designer for the film, instructed the applicants to interpret the photo on the first page of the book.
Then came a flashback of Plengpin and Ajin’s earlier conversation. Ajin asked Plengpin if she wanted to audition for the role—but in exchange, she had to steal the dress Ray had mentioned. The scene then shifted back to the present, where Plengpin was being interviewed.
She was asked several questions and praised for her graceful traditional dance. When asked why she wanted to audition, she explained that her mother had been a longtime fan of M.L. Prisanan’s novel, and she had always felt a deep connection to the story.
However, while she was answering, a production staff member interrupted her, accusing her of being fake—suspicious, even—because her Instagram account was newly created. He challenged her to recite her favorite line from the book.
There was a tense moment of silence that even made me think she might not know anything, considering her audition was pre-arranged. But to everyone’s surprise, Plengpin confidently delivered a specific and powerful line from the novel.
Everyone was left in awe. Honestly, I almost yelled, “That’s my girl!”—her delivery was that powerful.

Who’s Anya in Ajin’s Life?
In the final episode of Enigma (2023), Ajin was seen making out with Anya, a famous model. Although her role wasn’t clearly defined in the previous series, she continues to play a part in this sequel.
Ajin saw Anya hugging Plengpin during the audition. It turns out that Ajin had already warned Plengpin not to associate with Anya. Moreso, when they got home, he immediately used his black magic. Plengpin was still in the dark about Anya’s true connection to Ajin.
She only knew that Anya was popular and that Ajin used to date her. A brief flashback then showed a heated argument between Anya and Ajin, where Anya accused him of trying to get close to her for ulterior motives. Afterward, Ajin once again warned Plengpin, telling her that some things are better left unknown.
Ajin reminded her of their deal regarding the competition: Plengpin must win and give Ajin the Bu-nga Muen Phamorndress—the one Ray mentioned in his video. If she fails, their deal ends.
The Four Female Leads—Plengpin, Jew, Anya, and Myday
During the second part of the audition, which involved dancing and interpreting the book, Plengpin gave a performance unlike any other. It wasn’t just a simple reenactment—she owned the dance.
She used the phrase, “Soul burned inside the heart,” and quite literally brought it to life. Her movements were intense, and at one point, she removed her top as if she were being consumed by flames. Everyone in the studio was stunned by her boldness and raw emotion.
Moreso, when Ajin saw her performance, he mouthed that he had nothing to worry about. Meanwhile, Jew, Anya, and Myday followed suit, removing their tops in a similar interpretation of being burned—though Plengpin clearly set the bar.

The Mystery of the Red Envelope in Enigma Black Stage Episode 1
Plengpin didn’t see Ajin when she got home. After a while, she heard the doorbell ring and found a red envelope on the doorstep. She picked it up, and upon opening it, saw a notice that said “eliminated.”
Seeing the card made her walk back and forth anxiously. She tried calling Ajin, but he didn’t pick up. Suddenly, Plengpin received a call, and the scene shifted—she was back at the audition venue, where a production staff greeted her.
During an interview, she learned that the card was just a bluff—she actually passed the audition. However, things took a dark turn when the staff kept asking her to unbutton her top, making her visibly uncomfortable. She decided to leave but began to feel dizzy.
It turns out the drink the staff gave her was drugged. Plengpin woke up in a car, her hands tied. Surrounded by staff members, she tried to scream for help. She grabbed a hammer, and the next thing shown was her escaping the vehicle.
What Lies Beneath the Curtains
Plengpin lost consciousness again, and when she opened her eyes, she was tied to a cross. A man stood before her holding a sword.
A nearby radio repeatedly played the message, “Any last words before you die?” Overwhelmed and terrified, Plengpin cried out for help. Tears streamed down her face as she listened to the haunting voice.
As the radio droned on like a broken cassette, she gave a heartfelt message to her late mother, saying how much she missed her and that they would see each other again. Just when she thought it was the end, the curtains suddenly opened.
Ray and three other women appeared—it was all part of the final performance for the chosen auditionees. What a twist! After that heart-stopping moment, I almost completely believed everything was real!

You’ll Never Know the Truth and the Lies
After the mind-blowing performance, Ray showed the CGI dress to the contestants. In a VTR, three girls praised the dress for its beauty and creativity. However, Plengpin admitted the dress made her feel deeply uncomfortable.
The scene then cut to Plengpin smoking. Anya approached and brought up Ajin’s name. Plengpin asked Anya what she truly wanted, and Anya bluntly told her to drop out of the competition, claiming she wasn’t fit for it.
An ordinary person like her wouldn’t survive the darkness behind the scenes. Anya revealed that everyone else knew about Ray’s stunt except her. She even mentioned how Plengpin cried and spoke to her dead mom.
Furthermore, Anya spoke about the Bu-nga Muen Phamorn dress and the dark power it holds. To understand it, she claimed, one would need magic. While Plengpin admitted her discomfort, the others felt it too—Myday dealt with it by chanting, and Jew by holding a protective necklace.
Then came a shocking revelation: Plengpin’s mother isn’t actually dead. Her emotional monologue? All acting. Plengpin knows black magic. She even showed her spell patterns to Anya, who began to choke—but then her grip loosened. Plengpin calmly stated that Ajin could still help her—even in that cursed place.
Enigma Black Stage Episode 1 kicked off with a bang! Having watched Enigma (2023), I can confidently say this sequel already exceeds expectations.
