What Really Happened in the Past with Kosum in Enigma Black Stage Episode 5?
Episode 5, the finale of Enigma Black Stage, begins with Kosum’s appearance—set in the past. It was a recorded video of her team experimenting on the Bu-nga Muen Phamorn dress, the legendary artifact.
In the first part of the video, Kosum was enthusiastic about their mission. But after months of experiments without progress, she grew frustrated.
Another video later shows Kosum, drunk and distraught, lamenting their project, which was on the verge of failure. Yet a mysterious event occurs that unsettles her. The scene then shifts to the present, where Ajin and Ray discuss the mystery. The question lingers: what did Kosum see in that video that startled her?
Why Did Jew Kidnap Plengpin?
In episode 4, the ending hinted at Jew attempting to kidnap Plengpin. In this episode, while Ajin and Ray are talking, a staff member reports that Plengpin is missing. Alarmed, Ajin rushes to find her.
He discovers Plengpin tied to a chair on the second floor. But when she begs him for help, Ajin quickly realizes it isn’t her—it’s Jew. Using her black magic, Jew had disguised herself as Plengpin.
Enraged by the competition’s outcome, Jew’s greed spirals out of control. She brandishes a piece of paper, claiming it’s the novel’s epilogue and insisting the competition isn’t over. Ajin tries to reason with her, urging her to stop her madness.
Jew attempts to stab Ajin, but he fends her off with magic, leaving her briefly unconscious. In the end, Jew falls from the second floor while trying to hide her disfigured face.

Who’s the Real Enigma in the Final Episode?
In the most shocking twist, Plengpin stabs Ajin right after he saves her. The scene freezes viewers in disbelief—how could she hurt him, given their bond?
But the bigger revelation comes next: Enigma is actually Prisanan Poramantiwa—the novel’s writer and Ray’s grandfather. Ajin attempts to counter Enigma with his power, but it fails, and he is taken captive.
Flashbacks reveal that Kosum’s disturbing video was the result of her successfully communicating with Enigma through her computer. From then on, she learned to use black magic under his guidance. With Enigma’s help, Kosum carried out her most critical mission.
What Was Kosum’s Mission?
Prisanan had long been dead, so how was he inhabiting Plengpin’s body? The answer: Kosum’s mission was to find a suitable host for Enigma.
Enigma explains that he can transfer his soul to someone with close contact to the Bu-nga Muen Phamorn dress. Ajin is left stunned, since Plengpin had never been near the dress.
The truth is revealed: Enigma first possessed a staff member who Plengpin accidentally killed after falling into the lake. That contact allowed him to transfer his soul into Plengpin’s body.
By the time of the final competition, Plengpin was no longer herself—Enigma had taken over completely. Ajin, powerless under Enigma’s magic, lay helpless on the floor. The finale grows even darker as Enigma decides to kill Ajin—stabbing him straight through the heart.

Did Enigma Really Win in the End?
Ajin’s lifeless body is shown before the scene shifts to the aftermath: Enigma (in Plengpin’s body) emerges as the sole survivor of the Bu-nga Muen Phamorn competition. Plengpin becomes a famous actress and allies with politician Ratt Rattanatrakul—the same man who helped kill Ajin.
But the story doesn’t end there. Ajin is revealed to still be alive, thanks to the Leklai stone. Though he was shown throwing it away in a previous episode, it turns out he secretly kept it. That decision saved him once again.
Ajin takes his revenge slowly but decisively. He uploads a video exposing Enigma’s horrific deeds—showing how “Plengpin” killed Ray and the other staff by burning them alive inside the building.
As the final moments unfold, Ajin reveals himself to Enigma. And in a chilling twist, the real Plengpin is also shown—smirking and raising her middle finger.
Enigma Black Stage Ending Explained
Ajin proved himself the most powerful shaman in the series—not just surviving one death, but two.
What made this finale thrilling was its relentless twists. I never expected Enigma to possess Plengpin, nor for him to be revealed as Ray’s grandfather. The writing was wickedly clever.
As Ajin himself says in the finale: “Darkness is real. But if you don’t believe it’s real, it will forever deceive you.”
The series masterfully portrayed human greed, lust for power, and obsession with victory through its spine-chilling narrative.
With Ajin and Plengpin smirking in the finale—and Enigma still at large—the door is wide open for a sequel. One that could be darker, bolder, and even more terrifying. Fingers crossed!
