Debt and Desperation

As the funeral proceeds, financial troubles begin to appear in the form of a CEO, Choi, barging in at the funeral. We find out that the late Jin-young has left several debts, leading to a physical fight over the condolence money Nam-mo, Tae-poong’s best friend was watching over.

Soon enough Mi-seon manages to step in. Breaking the fight up, she establishes as bookkeeper that there was a misunderstanding. The deadline for the debt payment would be in a few days, not now as Choi initially thought.

What’s Next for Typhoon Trading

At the office, only a few employees remain, steadfast in their loyalty and debating what to do next. Deciding to stay until they finish their deal with a textile company, they are surprised by the appearance of Tae-poong. Dressed up in his usual fashion, the workers have doubts about the late CEO’s son taking over—believing that he wouldn’t have the guts it’ll take to handle Typhoon Trading.

Suddenly, the debt collector Choi storms into the office once more. Demanding his payment, he creates a scene, causing Tae-poong to come out of the CEO’s room. Choi gets up in Tae-poong’s face, forcing him to sign a joint surety assuring that he will pay his father’s debt.

Going Home

Tae-poong comes home to darkness—there was no electricity. Soon, he finds out from his mother that their electricity has been cut off, causing their place to go dark. She admits that due to their financial strains, they’re out of money. Tae-poong ends up on the floor with his mother, comforting both of them as they get through the cold night.

Mi-seon, on the other hand, is freezing as well. Their family decides to light up a bonfire, and Mi-ho, Mi-seon’s sister, finds her crumpled college exam. Confronting her, Mi-ho breaks down as she finds out that her sister couldn’t continue her studies because of their lack of money. Mi-seon comforts her, telling her that she can resume school another time, sharing a heartwarming moment over the fire.

The Locked Safe

While looking around his father’s office, Tae-poong finds a hidden key. Leading to a safe, Tae-poong tries his best to figure out the combination lock, the last step between him and the strongbox’s contents.

Asking around the Typhoon Trading office if there are any significant numbers to the company, Mi-seon finally offers him a suggestion. Armed with a four-code number, Tae-poong tries the password out and is surprised to see it open. Inside were a number of savings accounts, with one named for him—labelled ‘For Tae-poong’s dream.’

Final Words

The next day, Tae-poong enters the office confidently, asking Mi-seon out for lunch in front of all her other co-workers. With no choice but to accept, we soon see the two of them eating together. Tae-poong asks Mi-seon for help getting along with the trading company, admitting that he finally sees its importance to his father.

Afterwards, Mi-seon relays to Tae-poong his father’s final message that she managed to hear—’Tae-poong will do a good job.’ Paired with a letter left behind by his father inside the savings account envelope, Tae-poong finally has a moment to break down. He lets himself cry, releasing all the pent-up emotions he has been holding in.
