More questions about Sanho’s motives arise in Tempest episode 4.
Tempest episode 4 opens with Munju’s team dicussing the result of Sanho’s background check after Munju decides to hire him as her bodyguard. Sanho was one of the elite special agents during his time with Valkyrie and he did an excellent job in protecting his clients. According to Miji, none of his clients had ever died.
Despite this, Changhee is wary of him because of his identity. He is a man who looks and speaks fluent Korean yet holds a Mongolian and later a US citizenship. He suspects that Sanho is a spy from North Korea who had an ulterior motive in approaching Munju.
Bodyguard Sanho in action
True enough, Sanho’s skills are indisputable. He is very meticulous and checks everything down to the last detail. Unfortunately, this means Munju cannot do as she pleases anymore; she can’t even open the windows to get some fresh air! Sanho also insists on sleeping in the same room as Munju because sleeping in a different room will just add another obstacle in his way.
His perfectionism, along with Changhee’s initial suspicions, strains Sanho’s relationship with Munju’s team and Munju herself. Munju tells Sanho that if he refuses to cooperate, then they can’t work together.
However, it is this meticulous nature of hers that will also save Munju’s life later.
Sanho becomes so upset with Munju not eating the food he prepared for her he unlocks a new expression
According to Changhee, Sanho does not trust any of them, so he insists on cooking for Munju as well on top of being her bodyguard. Munju happens to be a picky eater who dislikes eating food that requires extra work. Oblivious to her preferences, Sanho cooks a dish he learned from the monastery that includes a whole chicken.
Munju being Munju, left the food untouched leaving Sanho dumbfounded. He cannot believe Munju is such a picky eater. Sanho says he will not vote for Munju as president because she wastes food (LOL).
Another threat to Munju
Meanwhile, Munju’s presidential campaign continues. She makes another public appearance to deliver a speech.
During the event, Sanho spots a suspicious man and asks Changhee to check, while the latter insists it has been cleared already. Sanho couldn’t leave to see for himself because he has to be with Munju, so he was left with no choice but to let the man be.
Later, on the way home, Sanho sees the same man, and confirming that this is not just a coincidence, he asks the driver to turn around. Before the driver could do so, the truck behind pushed them towards the flammable tanker truck, which exploded moments later. Fortunately, Sanho was able to save them in the nick of time.
Instead of being grateful to Sanho for saving Munju again, Changhee becomes even more suspicious of Sanho and now thinks he’s involved in the accidents and is not actually saving her.
Junik’s secret
Changhee finds Junik’s secret phone and immediately reports it to Munju. He says he will try to access it, but when he does it seems he found something in Junik’s secret phone. For whatever reason, he decides to reset the phone and the computer leaving no trace of information behind. While on the way somewhere, he gets into an accident and is rushed to the ER.
Before he was taken away by the hospital staff, he whispers to Munju that Junk might actually be a spy. Munju then receives a text message of an address, a passcode to a house, and… a picture of a woman wearing the same cross necklace Junk gave to Munju. Curious, they visit the said house and there Munju comes face to face with her late husband’s secret.
What to expect in the next episode
Tempest highlighted Junik and Munju’s relationship during the premier making the viewers believe that he was a devoted husband even in his last moments. The ending of Tempest episode 4, however, makes us question if this is still true. Munju’s hunt for truth also leads her to discover Junik’s dirty secrets.
In the next episode, we can expect to see how Munju will respond toher husband’s ultimate betrayal. Tempest will run until October 1, 2025, and episodes 4 and 5 are now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu. New episodes are released every Wednesday.
