IDOL I Episode 2 Recap: Se-na Convinces Herself That Do Ra-ik Would Never Do It
Do Ra-ik remains in denial about the murder, so Maeng Se-Na tells him what happened. She then asks if anyone might have held a grudge against Woo-seong—or against him—which leads Ra-ik to vent about his obsessive “stalker” fans who follow him everywhere, bombard him with calls and messages, and even broke into his house. As he angrily curses these fans in front of Se-na, she zones out, wondering if her idol is really that rude to curse at his own fans.
Her mind drifts back to high school, when she was bullied because people believed her father was a murderer. At her lowest point, a boy comforted her by singing, giving her his cap, and handing her a recorder with his self-composed song. She thinks, “In that moment, the only one who comforted me was you,” and remembers how he gave her a reason to keep living.
Years later, she sees Do Ra-ik as a rookie with Gold Boys, performing in front of her as their very first fan. Holding onto that memory, Se-na convinces herself, “Because you’re the reason I was able to stay alive. You went through something awful, but you’d never do something like that.”
Se-na Decides to Take Over Do Ra-ik’s Case
Do Ra-ik faces an arrest warrant after his lawyer quits. This leaves him at risk of going to trial alone. Maeng Se-na visits him and asks if he truly killed Kang Woo-seong. He denies it, though he overacts, and since he’s a terrible actor—there’s no way he could act this well. She decides to take over the case and officially becomes his lawyer.
To prepare for the trial, Se-na visits the crime scene. There, she meets prosecutor Kwak Byung-gyun, who bullied her in high school. He confronts and challenges her before the trial. Later, Se-na convinces her boss to let her handle the case and said that there’s many inconsistencies. He agrees, but she must work on the case alone.
Later, Se-na and Chung-jae confront Ra-ik’s obsessive fans. She tells them, “Being fans doesn’t mean you get to do whatever you want,” and points out that their trespassing at his home may be connected to the murder scene. The fans admit they sneaked in when no one was home and discovered his passcode on their own, insisting that’s all they did.

First Trial: Arrest Warrant Denied
Se-na accompanies Do Ra-ik to court and tells him to keep his head high to avoid looking guilty. Ra-ik admits he doesn’t remember what happened that night and worries, “What if I really did it?” Se-na reassures him, saying, “As long as I’m representing you, you will be found innocent. I’ll make sure of it,” and has him repeat and declare in court, “I, Do Ra-ik, did not kill Kang Woo-seong. I do not admit to killing Kang Woo-seong.”

The prosecution claims that Ra-ik is the only suspect and no third party was involved. Se-na counters, noting that two weeks before the incident, obsessive fans intruded into his home. She also points out that heavy rain at midnight could have erased traces of any intruder, that signs of searching suggest someone unfamiliar with the space was at the scene, and that the prosecution never mentioned the weapon allegedly used in the crime. With no clear evidence, the court denies the arrest warrant and is free to go, though the case isn’t over as the prosecution will still look for evidence.
Afterward, Ra-ik finds his face on an LED vandalized with the word “murderer” and cannot bear to enter his own apartment. He ends up wandering and drinking, reflecting on memories with Woo-seong until he passes out. The episode ends the next morning with him waking up at Se-na’s house.
