Park Min-young is back, and she’s got a couple of tricks up her sleeve. Her next hit drama, Confidence Queen, is scheduled for release on September 6!
Park Min-young fans are set for another great watch this September with the release of her newest drama, Confidence Queen. Following her impressive performance in Marry My Husband, she’s eager to take on another iconic role — now as a charismatic con artist.
Squid Game‘s Park Hee-soon and Extraordinary Attorney Woo‘s Joo Jong-hyuk also join the main cast as two-thirds of the con artist trio. In addition, the drama is led by director Nam Ki-hoon, most known for Destined with You (2023) and Big Bet (2022-2023), and writer Hong Seung-hyun.
This forthcoming comedy-crime series is a Korean adaptation of the 2018 Japanese drama The Confidence Man JP starring Masami Nagasawa. Although it has big shoes to fill, the star-studded cast and seasoned staff put any doubts to rest. We can’t wait to see how they make this adaptation their own while preserving the original’s core.

What is Confidence Queen About?
Confidence Queen follows Yun Yi-rang (Park Min-young), a genius con artist who leads an unconventional team to take down corrupt influential figures. Known for her outstanding IQ and sharp intuition, Yi-rang fits perfectly with her profession and skillfully orchestrates detailed schemes to reach her goals.
Her tight-knit crew comprises Myung Gu-ho (Joo Jong-hyuk) and James (Park Hee-soon). Gu-ho is known for his optimistic and approachable nature, while James is calm and humorous in his unique way. None of them is quite like the other, but their chemistry as a trio shines where it matters most.
We’re given a glimpse of Min-young’s bold portrayal of Yi-rang in the first teaser as she starts it off with a chilling line — “Sinners shouldn’t go to hell when they die. They deserve hell while living.” This seemingly hints at the group’s strong morals. Though they may be swindlers, they only target those who deserve it.
In quick succession, Yi-rang is shown playing different personas for their schemes, further highlighting her expertise and extreme confidence. We don’t get much else about the story and characters before the video ends, but one thing’s certain: we can feel the thrill, and we’re bursting with anticipation!
Slated for 12 episodes, Confidence Queen will officially premiere on September 6, releasing one episode every Saturday and Sunday.
Furthermore, Filipino viewers can also join in on the fun as the drama will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video. We can definitely expect the show to be on everyone’s watchlist next month!
