Yoon Chan-young has already taken on several roles that showcase his artistic range, in addition to being the “hero” Cheong-san in All of Us Are Dead. He made his acting debut in 2013 as Lee Jae-hui in When a Man’s in Love.

One of his most notable films was Mama (2014), where he won two awards for Best Young Actor at the 3rd APAN Star Awards and the 2014 MBC Drama Awards.

High School Return of a Gangster (2024)

This might be a fan favorite ever since Chan-young appeared in All of Us Are Dead as Cheong-san. In this 2024 series, Chan-young took on the roles of Kim Deuk-pal and Song Yi-heon. The story follows a 47-year-old gangster and #2 in his gang, Kim Deuk-pal, who dreams of attending a university. Deuk-pal encounters the suicidal high school student Song Yi-heon.

This leads to Deuk-pal possessing Yi-heon’s body. He learns that Yi-heon is being bullied at school, so he seeks revenge on his bullies. Deuk-pal befriends Yi-heon’s classmate, Choi Se-kyung, a model student who hides his own struggles. This series highlights Chan-young’s versatility—playing two very different characters.

Alongside Chan-young are Bong Jae-hyun as Choi Se-kyung, Lee Seo-jin as Kim Deuk-pal, Won Tae-min as Kim Dong-soo, and Kim Se-won as Park Yeon-ji.

Hope or Dope (2022)

Breathing life into the role of Gong Yoon-tak, Chan-young took part in this 10-episode series Hope or Dope. Among the cast are Won Ji-an as Kyung Da-jung, Yoon Hyun-soo as Gong Yoon-jae, Han Se-jin as Kim Gook-hee, and Yang Seo-hyun as Hong Ae-ran.

The series follows an 18-year-old girl, Da-jung, who is used by her mother to sell drugs. When an unfortunate event forces her to go on the run, she finds herself in a village with marijuana fields. There, she meets Yoon-tak, an ordinary high school student, and his family. As they get tangled in Da-jung’s dangerous world, their lives become more complicated. The series had a Korean sequel, with Chan-young reprising his role as Yoon-tak.

Everything and Nothing (2019)

Everything and Nothing is a four-episode mini-series directed by Jo Young-min. Yoon Chan-young plays Go Min-jae, alongside Park Si-eun as Ahn Seo-yeon. The series explores the pain and growth of 17-year-olds Min-jae and Seo-yeon.

Min-jae is an ordinary high school student who doesn’t talk much and has a sensitive personality. He’s the type to always get good grades and never cause trouble. Seo-yeon attends the same high school as Min-jae, and the two also graduated from the same middle school. The series focuses on the character development of these two protagonists.

Delivery Man (2023)

Yoon Chan-young stars as Seo Yeong-min, a taxi driver who unexpectedly finds himself serving a bizarre clientele—ghosts. It’s strange for him to exclusively ferry these passengers and grant their final wishes. One day, Seo Yeong-min meets a passenger, Kang Ji-hyun, who can’t remember her past life. This leads her to become his taxi sales manager.

Delivery Man

Together, the two try to fulfill the wishes of different ghosts while tracking down a serial killer. The series consists of 12 episodes with a 70-minute runtime each and is directed by Kang Sol and Park Dae-hee. This series will give you a mix of comedy, romance, and supernatural thrills.

Hyper Knife (2025)

Taking on the role of Seo Yeong-ju, Hyper Knife follows the story of Choi Deok-hui, the best neurosurgeon in the world. Deok-hui had a pupil named Jung Se-ok, toward whom he had mixed feelings. During an operation, he kicked her out of his operating room.

Despite being a genius doctor, Se-ok becomes a shadow doctor involved in illegal surgeries. She eventually reunites with her former mentor, Deok-hui, and must confront him. Han Hyeon-ho, an anesthesiologist, feels sorry for her, while Yeong-ju remains loyally by her side. Chan-young delivers a steadfast and loyal character in this series.

Mama (2014)

Yoon Chan-young portrayed Han Geu-ru, Seung-hui’s son. This is the role that earned the actor two awards for Best Young Actor. Directed by Kim Sang-hyub, the story follows a single mother who has devoted her life to making money and achieving fame—until she finds out that she has a limited time left to live.

Pluto Squad (2014)

Playing the role of Lee U-jin, Chan-young acted alongside Kim Ji-min as Kang Ha-ra, Tang Jun-sang as Lee Seo-jin, Yoo Jun as Choi Dong-yeong, and Park Si-eun as Jin Sun-mi. The series follows four kid detectives solving various cases happening in their school. Chan-young may have been young when he took this role, but he definitely showcased his acting prowess early on.
