Wan and Maewnam put in their best effort to reconcile after their misunderstanding, while Mahnmook tries to be friends with Wan once again.
Whale Store XOXO episode 9 hit the screens on August 20, 2025, featuring the struggles of Wan and Maewnam in expressing their feelings. Their misunderstanding caused them to spend some time apart. Meanwhile, Tonnam and Chompoo go public with their relationship, and Mahnmook tries to get another chance to become friends with Wan.

Wan and Maewnam’s Misunderstanding in Whale Store XOXO Episode 9
In the previous episode of Whale Store XOXO, Wan and Maewnam had a fight due to a misunderstanding about the money Maewnam lent to Wan. After meeting Maewnam’s mother, Wan learned that the money was actually for Maewnam’s PhD tuition.
However, Maewnam admitted that she lent the money because she didn’t really want to continue her PhD. This made Wan upset, and she asked Maewnam not to help her again.
In this episode, we see why Wan doesn’t want to rely on others. Back in her university days, she often received help from Mahnmook. But one day, Mahnmook left her, saying that Wan needed to learn to manage things on her own instead of depending on her.
This made Wan feel like she needed to do everything by herself—with no help from anyone. That’s likely the same feeling she had when Maewnam lent her the money.
Thankfully, Noey was there to comfort her—both when Mahnmook left and now, during her misunderstanding with Maewnam.

Tonnam and Chompoo’s Relationship Goes Public
After Chompoo confessed her relationship with Tonnam to her mother, the two began to subtly go public. If before they couldn’t be seen together at university, now they’re even holding hands while walking.
They can finally eat lunch together without worrying about someone telling Chom’s mother. They also revealed their relationship to Professor Tik.
The professor’s reaction was hilarious—she never expected them to be dating! Considering how much they bickered almost every day, anyone would be shocked.
But Tonnam and Chom’s decision was brave. It takes courage to show the world who you really are. Keeping their relationship a secret must have been difficult, so revealing it lifted a huge weight off their shoulders.
Maewnam Sees Wan with Mahnmook
Mahnmook suddenly visited Wan’s store, asking if Wan and Maewnam had broken up, which annoyed Wan.
But Mahnmook explained that she wasn’t there for that—she wanted to help with the store. Like before, she shared ideas on how to attract customers.
While they were brainstorming, Maewnam arrived. Overcome by jealousy, she asked if Wan was fine accepting help from Mahnmook but not from her.
Wan clarified that if the help didn’t involve money or lies, she could accept it. This upset Maewnam, who walked out of the store.
This misunderstanding between Wan and Maewnam clearly needed just one honest conversation—without their emotions getting in the way.

The Conversation Between Chompoo and Her Mother
As mentioned in the previous recap, Som’s reaction was understandable—she probably never expected her daughter to like girls. She wasn’t prepared. Still, her behavior toward Chom and Tonnam wasn’t acceptable.
After Chom admitted her relationship with Tonnam, Som became distracted. During a salon session with Professor Tik, she accidentally burned the professor’s ear with a hair iron—right after Tik mentioned Chom and Tonnam’s relationship.
This worried Chom and Tonnam, who thought Som wasn’t okay with their relationship.
To clear things up, Chom talked to her mother. Their conversation was eye-opening for all parents who struggle to accept their children after they come out.
Chom asked her mother why she could support other people but not her. Chom broke down, frustrated that her mother seemed unwilling to listen.
But Som revealed that she wasn’t disgusted or angry—she just hated herself for not knowing her daughter as well as she thought. Her words showed that she was hurting too.
In the end, Som and Chom apologized to each other and exchanged “I love you’s.” Som might not be fully okay yet, but her love for her daughter is greater—and acceptance will come.

Noey’s Deep Love for Wan—Beyond Friendship
It’s no secret that Noey has feelings for Wan—longer than even Maewnam. Yet, she never confessed, even after Wan and Mahnmook broke up.
When Noey was closing the store, Mahnmook confronted her. During their heated exchange, Mahnmook revealed that she always knew Noey liked Wan.
Noey bravely admitted it. Yes, she likes Wan. But she would rather stay quiet and keep their friendship than risk losing Wan forever.
At least this way, she can still be by Wan’s side—helping her, comforting her, and being someone she can rely on. Something Mahnmook could never truly be.
Maewnam’s Service Is Out, Wan’s Service Is In
After a drunk text from Wan, Maewnam found her waiting outside the store. To help Wan repay the money she had borrowed, Maewnam welcomed Wan’s “service.”
Wan began doing Maewnam’s delivery jobs—carrying rice sacks, shampoo, and even food. It was also Maewnam’s way of trying to reconcile with her.
After a long day, Wan and Maewnam finally talked. They apologized to each other. Maewnam returned Wan’s whale whistle and reminded her: if she calls, she must be there.
The episode ended with the two sharing sweet kisses and finding comfort in each other’s arms.
