In episode 10 of The Next Prince, which aired on July 5, 2025, Prince Khanin, along with Charan and Chakri, travels to Assavadevathin for the lantern procession. However, the sacred tradition is disrupted by protesters voicing concerns over air pollution caused by mining operations. In a bold move, Khanin sides with the protesters—even if it means opposing the King, his grandfather.

The Next Prince

The series features Zee Pruk Panich as Charan, NuNew Chawarin Perdpiriyawong as Prince Khanin, Jimmy Karn Kritsanaphan as Prince Ramil, Ohm Thanakrit Chiamchunya as Paytai, Net Siraphop Manithikhun as Prince Calvin, JJ Radchapon Phornpinit as Jay, and Kris Charintip Rungthanakiat as Princess Ava.

Seizing the opportunity, Khanin brings up a news report about a girl who stole gold from the mines to pay for her mother’s medical treatment. He asks whether it’s true that pollution from the mines is causing illnesses. His father confirms hearing about the issue and explains that an investigation is ongoing.

Later, they join the lantern procession, where Khanin learns the tradition’s origin. It began when villagers relied on starlight to find their way home from late mining shifts. To honor this, they began lighting lanterns—a symbol of gratitude and a blessing for a prosperous mining season.

Emmaly Citizens Demand Clean Air, Block Procession

While Chakri, Khanin’s butler, shops for a lantern, a vendor mentions the decline in tourism due to air pollution caused by mining. Meanwhile, Vedish and Thatdanai—Charan’s friend and Khanin’s adoptive father—arrive and spot Khanin. Overwhelmed, Thatdanai tries to leave, but Khanin chases after him and ends up caught in a public protest against the worsening air crisis.

The protesters, including Jay and Prince Calvin, demand urgent action regarding the long-ignored pollution. They chant and sing for justice, with Jay voicing the people’s struggles. Amid the commotion, Prince Tharin (Khanin’s father) appears and claims that an investigation is underway, but the protesters criticize the lack of real progress.

As tensions rise and chaos disrupts the lantern procession, a citizen urges the crowd to stop. Prince Khanin steps in, acknowledges their concerns, and promises action—offering immediate aid, such as masks and air purifiers, along with a commitment to address the pollution crisis. He seals their trust by singing the protest anthem in solidarity. Feeling heard and moved, the protesters cleared the way, allowing the procession to continue.

Prince Khanin as a Symbol of Hope and Change in The Next Prince episode 10

Khanin’s stand earns widespread praise as he emerges as a symbol of hope and change. Later, while studying, he speaks with his father, who confesses he has long wanted to take action but was restricted by the King’s control. He urges Khanin to win the royal competition to gain the power needed to enact real change.

Khanin then confronted the King, defending his actions during the protest. The King scolded him for intervening, and telling to focus only on the competition. Khanin responded firmly, saying he would win—not for the title, but to gain the power to create real change. When the King insists change takes time, Khanin replies that it also takes courage and determination—and waiting to know everything leads to inaction.

Meanwhile, Thatdanai chooses to stay hidden after Khanin spots him, not wanting to distract him from the royal competition. Meanwhile, The King commanded Charan to stay away from anything involving Thatdanai. Later, in the library, Khanin confronts Charan, who reassures him Thatdanai is safe with Vedish. Relieved, Khanin expresses his trust in Charan.

The Royal Competition

The four clans were briefed on the upcoming royal competition, which will consist of three rounds. The first round will test the heirs’ wit, with challenges prepared by the King’s committee and given a day in advance to them.

The second round is an archery competition, proposed by Prince Wasin of Meenanagarin, to be held in a forest using technology that transmits scores in real time. Since he has no heir, Wasin will oversee the competition grounds in Meenanagarin. The final round will be fencing, and the winning heir will secure their father’s position as the next king of Emmaly.

Princess Ava Stands Her Ground

Princess Ava’s father, Prince Chana, tries to replace her coach, Mira, fearing ridicule from other clans due to her being a woman. Ava refuses, threatening to withdraw unless Mira stays. He reluctantly agrees and later voices his concerns to Prince Wasin, who assures him of Mira’s skill and capability.

Meanwhile, Ava struggled with the realization that her father wasn’t supporting her out of understanding, but to protect his own dignity. Feeling conflicted, she questioned why she was born a woman, expressing concern that her gender made everything harder. Mira comforted her, encouraging Ava to embrace who she is and strive to become her best self.

The Truth Behind the 4 Knights of Emmaly

While Khanin was studying, Charan found him asleep and quietly admired his progress. When Khanin woke up, their conversation turned to a history book he had noticed on the shelf—The 4 Knights of Emmaly. Curious, Khanin voiced his skepticism about the official narrative of the royal family’s alliance with the four clans, particularly questioning how willingly the prince of Bhuchongpisut surrendered his power.

In response, Charan explained that history depends on who writes it. He added that some narratives claim the prince never intended to share power and only sought help from the other clans when he was on the brink of defeat. As a result of that alliance, the royal fencing competition was eventually established as a tradition.
