The Look of Happiness in Memoir of Rati Episode 6
Rati woke up to the scent of bunga rumpai, the scent filled with rose petals and cloves. When he opened his eyes, he saw Thee beside him and thought he must be dreaming. But to his surprise, he wasn’t!
Thee was really beside him—and even teased him, asking if he’d like to see him every morning.
That morning, Thee couldn’t take his eyes off Rati. He looked at him with so much adoration, affection, and longing. It was as if Rati had finally discovered Thee’s feelings.
But Rati tried to stop Thee from staring. Jam interrupted, saying that Thee was looking at Rati with eyes full of happiness—a look she had never seen Thee give to anyone before.
Later, Jam went to Kui and told him about her observation with Thee and Rati. She said that each day, the two were becoming closer and closer. But Kui just shrugged, saying Jam was probably overthinking it.
Mek and Dech’s Deeper Connection
In previous episodes, Mek and Dech are seemingly spending time together learning both French and Muay. That said, their relationship starts to be more deep.
After the class of Dech, he approach Rati and asked him the French translation of “Where would you like to go?” Rati responded with “Où veux-tu aller?”
Dech thanked him afterwards, and went straight to Mek. He used that phrase to ask Mek and Mek replied with “Je veux aller là-bas.”
But Dech suddenly throw a tantrum when Mek called him sir. He said that maybe Mek doesn’t think of him as a friend. But Mek said that they’re in school and people might think the wrong idea once they hear him being informal to Dech.
In the middle of their conversation, Dech’s father appeared and questioned Mek’s casual tone to Dech. Mek responded qucikly that he wasn’t being impolite to the baronette knowing that he’s just a commoner.
Dech just agreed to what Mek said, trying to cover up their bond. Dech’s father praised Mek for knowing his place as a servant.

A Message From France
Thee went to Rati’s residence, hoping to catch a glimpse of him through his bedroom window. Just as he was about to leave, Rati surprised him, asking if he was content just watching from afar. Rati then invited him inside, and the two shared a quiet conversation.
Thee asked Rati if he would like to go to the Floating Lantern Festival with him, and Rati excitedly agreed. When Thee leaned in to kiss Rati on the lips, Rati subtly pulled away. Instead, Thee gently kissed his forehead before they bid each other farewell.
The next morning, Thee, Rati, Jam, Kui, and Mhay prepared for the festival by making their loy kratong. While they were working, Florion—Rati’s friend from France—arrived.
Jealousy crept into Thee as he saw Rati and Florion smiling warmly at each other. But Florion had only come to deliver a message from Rati’s father: news of his return to France.
Floating Lantern Festival in Memoir of Rati Episode 6
Dech visited Mek in the classroom to return his book—and to talk. He brought up the time Mek lied to his father, but Mek explained that he only did it to protect Dech from getting into trouble. He emphasized that he genuinely believes in their friendship.
Mek then invited Dech to the festival. However, Dech said his father wanted him to bring a woman instead. Still, ever the rebel, Dech said he’d rather spend the evening with a true friend than someone he barely knew.
Meanwhile, when Rati came to see Thee for them to head to the festival together, they were interrupted by Lady Pa—Thee’s fiancée and the daughter of Duke Udomsawaddamrong. She brought news from Thee’s grandmother, insisting that he accompany Lady Pa to dinner and the festival.
Though Thee had already made plans with Rati, Rati encouraged him to go with Lady Pa, saying he would attend with Jam and Kui instead. But Thee stood firm—he was going with Rati, just as he promised.

Thee Refuses to Be Forced Into Engagement
When Thee and Lady Pa arrived at their home, both families greeted them. Thee’s grandmother pushed for an early wedding, but Thee insisted he wasn’t ready.
He explained that he carried too many responsibilities and didn’t want to burden his future wife. His grandmother argued that he could still fulfill his duties while being married.
Nevertheless, Thee replied that he didn’t want Lady Pa to suffer because of his lack of time. He clearly stated he wasn’t ready for marriage and wanted more time to think things through. He proposed delaying the wedding for a few more months.
Dech and Mek, Always Choosing Each Other
During the festival, Dech was actually with the woman his father told him about. But after spending just a few minutes with her, he sneaked out to find Mek. He went to the Muay ring, but an unfortunate event happened.
He bumped into someone and accidentally ruined their kratong. The man was furious and punched him. Mek arrived just in time to rescue Dech, and the two ran off together. They hid to avoid further conflict.
Once they felt safe, they sat on the grass and talked about themselves. This scene became one of my favorite moments between Dech and Mek because they were able to bare their souls to each other.
It was like they opened up fully, knowing they were safe together. Dech and Mek shared secrets they had told no one else.

Above All, Rati Will Always Be Thee’s Priority
While walking through the busy festival road, Thee asked Lady Pa to float the kratong alone. He said he’d wait for her, but Lady Pa responded by asking if that wouldn’t mean disobeying their parents. She also worried about what people would say if they were seen apart.
Furthermore, Lady Pa asserted that if this was Thee’s way of rejecting her, then she hoped he was ready for the consequences. She gave him a chance—three seconds to go to Rati—as she closed her eyes. Thee wasted no time and ran straight to Rati.
This entire scene between Rati and Thee showed how strong their feelings were. However, given the situation, they couldn’t express them openly.
But in the middle of their doubts, Thee assured Rati that he was the only one he wanted to be with. He said he was happy just having Rati by his side.
Thee bravely asked Rati if he felt the same way. He added that his body and soul would belong only to Rati. What made the scene even more beautiful was when Rati knelt beside Thee and swore to the Goddess Ganga that his soul and body would solely belong to Thee as well.
