Ramphueng’s Past and the Reason for Her Curse

This episode finally revealed the reason why Ramphueng cursed the bloodline of Khemjira. In the past, Ramphueng was a servant and one of the mistresses of the Lord. She bore the son of the Lord; however, the first wife was also pregnant with a son.

This caused a conflict between them as the first wife wanted her son to be the heir. But a tragedy happened when her son died during pregnancy, while Ramphueng birthed a healthy baby boy. The death of the first wife’s son consumed her with hatred towards Ramphueng and her child.

In the end, the first wife stopped Ramphueng from escaping with her child. The first wife threw Ramphueng’s baby into the river, causing the baby’s death. Later, she accused Ramphueng of killing her son, switching the situation. The Lord believed what she said, especially since the other mistress (Krongkwan’s mother, the first Khemjira) testified—even though she saw how the first wife killed Ramphueng’s son.

The Lord asked the other servants to kill Ramphueng for harming the first wife’s son. This is why Ramphueng cast a curse on their bloodline: for every woman born in their family, they will experience separation from their loved ones, like how she was separated from her son. For every man reborn in their line, they will experience death by the age of 21—like how she died at the same age.

Khem was also able to witness every death in that bloodline, as Ramphueng cursed them. All of them died at a certain age or were separated from their beloved. Now, only Khem is left.

Grandma Si, Thong, and Ake

After being possessed by Ramphueng and drowning in the river, Grandma Si ended up dead. It was a heartbreaking moment knowing that Peem only had Grandma Si. Thong also died in Ramphueng’s hands. Although Thong was just a soul, Ramphueng was able to send him to the afterlife.

This caused Ake, Thong’s brother, to ask Peem to let him be with Thong. Jet asked Ake to stay, but Ake couldn’t be parted from his brother.

Due to this, Khem can’t help but blame himself for the tragic events that happened. If it wasn’t for the curse, the people he loved wouldn’t have suffered or died.

Khemjira Chooses to Leave

After everything that happened, Khemjira blamed himself. Even though the people in the village don’t blame him for Grandma Si’s death, he knew he brought that tragedy upon her. If it wasn’t because of his curse, Grandma wouldn’t have died—neither Thong nor Ake.

Not to mention that these people are the very people Peem loves. Khem feels like he’s putting everyone in danger. That’s why he plans to leave Peem’s house to avoid harming other people. But Peem tries to convince him not to go, saying that he’s the only one Peem has left.

Still having the aftermath of Ramphueng’s spell, Peem fell ill and Khem tried to help him. Peem fell asleep at Khem’s side, but little did he know, when he was sound asleep, Khem would still choose to leave.

Leaving only a letter, Peem woke up with Khem no longer by his side.
