Burnout Syndrome Episode 7 Recap: Pheem wants Jira all to himself

While waiting for a cab, Jira calls Pheem to apologize, explaining that everything that happened was Koh’s plan and that Koh made him do it. When Pheem asks what Koh made him do, Jira stays silent. Pheem takes this as proof that Koh didn’t force him—that if he hadn’t been there, Jira and Koh would have gone through with it—yet Jira still can’t answer.

Pheem then asks about Jira’s feelings toward Koh. Jira insists he hates Koh. When Pheem asks if Jira quit like he did, Jira admits he hasn’t, and Pheem quickly hangs up.

Later, Pheem confides in Mawin, asking if it’s wrong to want Jira to quit too. Mawin says yes, explaining that some employees tie their worth to their boss, feeling empathy no matter how cruel the boss is. Pheem admits he just wants to be with Jira, the two of them, and that he doesn’t want Koh involved in any way.

Jira joins Pheem in the rage room

With Ing and Mawin’s help, Jira finally meets Pheem at the Rage Room. Pheem immediately urges Jira to quit his job, but Jira explains it’s not that simple—he has always struggled with money, has no backup plan, and everything he owns comes from his own hard work. He asks Pheem to understand that he can’t risk going back to being unemployed, so quitting isn’t an option.

Frustrated, Pheem lets his anger explode, smashing everything in the room while Jira watches. He yells at Jira, saying he never lets anyone treat him the way he allows Jira to and calls him cruel. Pheem points out that Jira knows he can’t leave him, yet he will leave in the end. He questions why Jira keeps circling back, whether he’s enjoying toying with his feelings, and asks why it has to be Koh—pleading for Jira to understand him, even just a little.

Finally, Pheem admits he doesn’t want to love Jira anymore because it hurts. Jira says he doesn’t know when he’ll stop being mad at him, but he wants to draw him now. Seeing Pheem’s fragility beneath his anger, Jira begins sketching him. When Pheem strips and breaks down in tears, he asks Jira to draw him like he draws Koh. Jira tells him to just be himself, assuring him he likes him as he is, and cries along while sketching.

Koh collapses; Jira kisses him as he sleeps

After Jira goes home, he focuses on painting Pheem. Koh calls, asking Jira to come so he can sleep, but Jira refuses, saying he’s busy painting. Koh eventually shows up, but Jira leaves, and Koh follows him to a club. Jira expects he won’t follow because of the crowd—but Koh does. Exhausted and sleep-deprived, Koh collapses, and Jira lets him rest.

Once Koh feels better, he asks if Jira is mad at him for firing Pheem. Jira admits he’s upset because Koh seems to enjoy toying with others’ feelings. Koh says it was fun at first, but not anymore, and confesses that he can’t sleep and that Jira is all he has right now. Worried, Jira drives Koh home, helps him to his room, and stays with him until he falls asleep.

Before sleeping, Koh shares that he had a dream where Jira appeared as an angel, just like in his painting, and asks if he can kiss him before leaving, thinking it will help him sleep better. Jira decides to stay for the night, making Koh smile. As he watches Koh sleeping and looks at his painting, he goes to Koh and kisses him.
