7 Animes to Watch if You Like Jujutsu Kaisen

Drama

Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen is upon us, but are you looking for something else to fill the void while waiting for episodes to come?

Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most compelling animes on the scene right now. It has influenced not only cosplayers, but also well known personalities across the world. A famous example would be Megan Thee Stallion, who famously referenced this anime in her song “Otaku Hot Girl.”

Jujutsu Kaisen is unique and has a compelling storyline you can’t anywhere else. If you’re looking for similar elements, however, there are still plenty that could scratch the itch.

Soul Eater

Soul Eater follows the journey of three teams at the Death Weapon Meister Academy. The objective of the school is to train humans who have the ability to turn into weapons as well as those with the ability to wield them (meisters). The main cast revolves around the meister Maka Albarn and her eponymous weapon-partner, Soul Eater.

This series possesses the easy camaraderie of Jujutsu Kaisen‘s main cast as well as an interpretation of shinigami and witches. If you’re in it for Jujutsu Kaisen‘s school setting and fantastic ensemble cast, then Soul Eater could be a good pick.

Assassination Classroom

Like Jujutsu Kaisen, Assassination Classroom features a mischievous and plucky teacher and a class that he resolves to teach. While Gojo Satoru only teaches a limited amount of sorcerers, however, Koro-sensei is essentially raising an entire classroom of students with assassination techniques. Somehow it works!

This anime has a fantastic mentor figure and a colorful ensemble cast, though it does not have the sorcery and stakes that Jujutsu Kaisen has.

Chainsaw Man

Chainsaw Man adapts some of Jujutsu Kaisen’s more tragic elements, so if you’re there for that, then this is for you. This series revolves around Denji, who makes a contract with the devil Pochita. This gives him the ability to transform parts of his body into chainsaws, thus explaining the title of the series

In this world, Devils are born from humanity’s fears, and Devil Hunters are trained in order to eliminate or form contracts with them. This is similar to Jujutsu Kaisen‘s system around curses and sorcerers.

Noragami

Noragami places a good emphasis in a lesser-known world that is kept secret from the unseeing eyes of civilians. If that’s what attracted you to Jujutsu Kaisen, then this is the series for you. Meet our protagonist, Yato, a minor god struggling to gain followers. After an accident causes Hiyori to be familiar with the world of gods and the afterlife, Yato is tasked with helping her return to normal.

Servamp

Servamp‘s plot begins because of a boy named Mahiru Shirota who finds himself tied to one of the seven vampires tied to one of the seven deadly sins. It has fantastic supernatural backgrounds and features a wide range of antagonists and challenges after inheriting another creature.

While not completely similar to how Itadori Yuuji inherits Sukuna, this is a good pick for when you want to watch lower stakes.

Demon Slayer

Demon Slayer and Jujutsu Kaisen have incredible fighting scenes and out-of-this-world animation. If you want the adrenaline rush of watching a happy-go-lucky protagonist go through the ranks, then Demon Slayer is the best option.

Tanjiro’s journey to save as much people and to turn back his sister Nezuko to being human echoes the humanity that Itadori Yuuji also portrays throughout the series.

Naruto

Old but gold, Naruto is an easy and often necessary shounen manga watch. If you want to get into it, then it’s fun to get into one of the most famous franchises in the game.

The world and processes of being a ninja echoes the worldbuilding of the sorcerers, and it’s fun to see how the construction of anime has changed from then to now.
