The nation’s most-streamed band celebrates eight years in the music scene in an anniversary special gig with fans.
On September 5, 2026, Cup of Joe welcomed BER months with a nostalgic night at 123 Block in Mandaluyong City through Sandali Sessions: Ikatlong Yugto, looking back to the eight-year milestones of their career.
Known for their signature contemporary indie-pop sound and millions of streams across digital platforms, Cup of Joe has become one of the Philippines most-streamed bands. The band is composed of lead vocalists Gian Bernardino and Raphaell Ridao, lead guitarist Gab Fernandez, rhythm guitarist CJ Fernandez, and keyboardist Xen Gareza. Formed in Baguio City in 2018, the band has steadily grown its following through its distinct sound and heartfelt songwriting.
A Night of OPM
The session was opened by singer-songwriter bianca denise with her cover of Kitchie Nadal’s “Huwag na Huwag Mong Sasabihin” and Eraserheads’ “Spoliarium.” She also performed her original song “Maaga,” showcasing her soothing vocals and setting the mood for the evening.
Danica at Sinag followed with soulful performances that kept the crowd engaged. The duo delivered their rendition of Gloc 9’s “Upuan” alongside KZ Tandingan’s version of “Isang Linggong Pag-ibig.”
A five-piece alternative rock band, IÚNO, brings a burst of energy to the stage as they jam to tracks from their album Ang Kwento na Walang Nangyari such as “Malas,” “Gumamela,” “Nababaliw,” and “AYAW.” They also performed their recent release, “YUN OH!,” adding a fresh wave of alternative rock to the night.
Filipino folk-pop and alternative rock band Sugarcane also joined the special celebration, performing some of their well-loved tracks. “Kung Maging Akin Ka,” “Tayong Dalawa,” and “Leonora” were among the songs on their setlist, warming up the crowd for the night’s main act.
A Celebration of an Eight-Year Journey
The venue erupted in cheers and chants as Cup of Joe finally took the stage, marking the much-anticipated celebration of their eight-year journey.
The OPM band kicked off their set with “Sinderela” and “Tataya,” immediately getting the crowd on their feet and singing along. Lead vocalists Gian and Rapha greeted the crowd and welcomed them once again to the anniversary special.
For the band, returning to 123 Block held a special significance. Gian and Rapha recalled how the venue became part of their journey, having performed there as a front act for other OPM artists back in 2023.
As the session progressed, Cup of Joe performed the tracks of their second EP, Sandali, which was released in May of this year. The set included “Sandali,” “Pamahiin,” “Kung Payagan,” and “Lalayo,” giving fans another live experience of the EP’s tracks.
The celebration became even more memorable when the staff surprised the band with cakes and a birthday song in honor of their eight anniversary. The intimate moment highlighted the close connection between the members, their team, and the fans who have supported them throughout their journey.
Before performing “Isang Daan,” each member shared heartfelt messages for one another and for Joewahs—Cup of Joes dedicated fandom. Their messages reflected not only the band’s growth over the past eight years but also their appreciation for the people who have remained with them along the way.
The anniversary sessions also came with a surprise for the fans, Cup of Joe officially announced their upcoming year-end concert, scheduled on December 3 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The band also revealed the ticket prices to the attendees, giving those present an exclusive first look ahead of the official announcement through Viva Live and Cup of Joe’s social media accounts.
For the encore, Cup of Joe closed the night with two of their massive hits, “Multo” and “Mananatili,” leaving the audience singing along until the final moments of the celebration.
From Sandali to What’s Next
More than an anniversary gig, Ikatlong Yugto, the third stage of the Cup of Joe’s series of shows called Sandali Sessions, served as a reflection of their eight-year journey from humble beginnings as front acts at intimate venues to headlining major stages of their own. It was a celebration of how far they have come and a glimpse of the milestones still waiting ahead.
With their growing discography, devoted Joewahs, and another major concert on the horizon, the night served as both a celebration of how far the band has come and a glimpse of what lies ahead.
