Janine Teñoso had an intimate and cozy single launch for her newest song “Puso” on August 1, 2026 at Backyard Live.

On August 1st, 2026, Janine Teñoso celebrated the launch of her new single “Puso” at Backyard Live. It’s her second time in the studio, and she shared how thrilled she was to be back. This time, she invited four fellow female OPM artists—Angela Ken, Shanne Dandan, Clara Benin, and Deny—to open the show, each bringing their own unique energy to the stage.

Puso

Towards the end of the night, Janine finally took the stage with her band, charming the crowd with her upbeat vibe and encouraging them to sing along. When it came time for the high notes, she poured her heart into every one, her expressions revealing the emotions she wanted to share—especially the longing in her new single, “Puso.”

Before performing, Janine explained that the song holds a special place in her heart. While most of her tracks revolve around love, “Puso” leaves room for personal interpretation.

The song tells of yearning for someone, yet feeling emotionally drained by it. She envisions two lovers separated by countries or even worlds, still connected through their hearts alone. It’s the unspoken words, carried by that connection, that keep them tied together.

When Pop Journal asked what Janine’s favorite line is, she said:

Pwede bang punitin mga pahina
Kung saan mamahalin ka ng iba

Out of all her releases, this song stands out from the rest because it was Janine’s first time working with string instruments in the production of the song. Witnessing the process of recording the song was different, she shares, and it made the song more authentic.

Ultimately, Janine wants fans to take from the song that it’s okay to be logical in love sometimes because that’s how we set ourselves free. At the end of the day, you need to choose the freedom of your heart.

Special Guests

As mentioned, Janine invited four other singers to join her on stage. Angela Ken opened with an acoustic performance of her popular songs. She promoted her new EP and the October 18 concert. Next up was Shane Dandan, making her debut performance at Backyard Live. Then, Clara Benin stepped up with her guitar, delivering a completely raw and live set. Finally, Dený closed the show, treating the crowd to an unreleased song.

Janine expressed gratitude to Backyard Live and the community they have cultivated. She appreciated the freedom to create this wonderful gig and invite artists she loves to take the stage with her.

When we ask who Janine’s dream collaboration is, she mentions all the artists who performed that night. We look forward to a song featuring all of them!

Other Projects and Advice

Moreover, when asked about her upcoming debut in Muli, Janine stated she loves theater, even as workshops are only beginning.  She stays excited about the craft. This period supports her growth. She’s discovered a lot about herself and has grown as a person, which helps her songwriting as she gets to know herself better.

Pop Journal also asked if she has any advice for aspiring artists who dream of pursuing a career in the industry. She says:

Keep writing. Keep singing. No matter how far you’ve come – kapag kasi alam mo yun parang authentically and genuine you just love to write, it comes eh. Whatever external pains, it just comes to you naturally. Basta you just have to internally love what you do.

Janine Teñoso’s love for fans

Before wrapping up the night, Janine performs her song “Sandig,” dedicating it to the fans as something they can take home with them. With life moving so quickly because of social, it’s easy to feel a little lost at times. She says:

Personally, for me, the past few months, I’ve been feeling lost. Siyempre we want to move forward– and sa iisang direction lagi yung tigin natin. Pero– minsan pala when you look away or look to a different perspective – to the left to the right – it’s what it takes for you to move forward, eh.
